Can someone supply dry/wet weights for similar bikes of old engine design and new engine design?

A.k.a. 2000 FE400 and 2001 FE400

I'm curious to see what kind of weight advantages were made going with the jugless design...

PS- I'm also curious how much stripping I have to do to my '91 to get it to the same point (only curious!!!)

Hi Parsko,
With regard to that of the engine only average weight has steadily increased from inception including that of the integral cylinder case design.

Weight for '02 FE400

I've got an '02 FS 400 (FE in Supermoto trim I guess) and I put it on a scale at a Kart track last year. With a half tank of fuel it was 274lbs. In comparison, my '03 CRF in Supermoto trim on the same day/same scale was 247.

Not sure if it helps at all.

Is there another new look here on the "post a reply" thingy?

Yes, that certainly helps.

Does anyone have a 2000 400 they could weight? I suppose I could weigh mine, but I don't have a scale at home (I'm single!).

Thanks gavzx7!

I think it's that advertised weight thing again.
My Berg is supposed to be 15lbs lighter than
my friends KTM,but riding them back to back
the KTM feels lighter.I need to weigh mine.
A 1996 fe400e is advertised at 254lbs.
But with a half tank of fuel it weighed 291lbs
on Trail Rider's certified scale.
The kick start version weighed 13lbs less.

Hi out there (in the world),

last weekend I was on a Moto Cross Race,
my current bike (FE 501/02 in MX trim (only electric for e-starter))
weights 119 kg (sorry I don´t know what is it in lbs, maybe 264lbs) with minimum
half full fuel tank.
Last year I rode a 2000 FE 501 without electrical starter with a weight of
114kg (254 lbs). I think the kickstarter models of ´02 and the 2000 models are
nearly of same weight. The FC 550 a friend of mine got weights also 114kg in same trim (electrics are reduced to the engine kill-switch).

@t-jet-tim: The KTM SX 525 (it also has an e-starter) another friend of mine got has the same weight as my Berg but I won´t say that his bike feels lighter. I rode it yesterday and I must say my bike is easier to steer feel and additional to that I feel more safe on my bike . I setted my rear suspension to less "slack" (don´t know if it´s the right word - my english´s not the best). Maybe the broad fuel tank of your Berg supports the feeling of a heavier bike.

greetings

My bike is a little oversprung,so I might be riding
higher in the suspension. The KTM has a little shorter
wheelbase so it is not as stable,a steering damper is
mandatory.I thought the ktm turned a hair quicker,
and the 520 had a lot more torque than my 470.Engine
noise was less and the starter was stronger.I hope KTM
incorporates these improvements into the new bergs.
