Had a bike-try-out-day (eng?) with the local dirt club. Come as you are, bbq and try anyones bike out that turns up.
Very interesting thing to try other bikes, even a similar model has likely been altered some or have different settings from yours.
I tried:
Husqvarna 240 -86
KTM 450 -05
KTM 350 -14
Husqvarna 300 -14
Husaberg 450 -09
From memory:
- Husqvarna 240 turning sitting, bloody hell, there is no rear brake to speak of but you dont need one either, just lean over (peaing your pants) and youre already through, jaw dropping!
- KTM 450 RFS engine, what a darling, absolutely loved it, chassis very similar to -14 (Reckon this engine will be similar to Berg pre 09?)
- 350 had been altered to not work properly imho, cant comment on that. Did try a properly set up husqvarna 350 that I really liked, so the model as such is fine I bet.
- Husqvarna 300, a completely different bike to what Im used to, would have needed the day to learn how to ride it properly, felt very agile, a bit twitchy on the gas, liked the 250 berg more.
- Husaberg 450 my favourite of the lot, you get where you aim safely with no fuzz.
Point isnt really which one is the best, its the input your head gets from trying something different, very interesting! Do ask to swap bikes next time
We were at an old quarry with a fairly short technical but crazy fun loop + a bit of forest single trail.
Awesome day overall, old farts playing around!
