Hello Gents,

How do you guys clean out the spark plug hole?

I recently changed my plug, and there was all sorts of crud down yonder. I was VERY careful to put the plug right into the hole so nothing would fall in. It is still dirty. Compressed air seems like it would work, but what about the stuff still stuck in the crack between the plug gasket and the head.

Subsequently...
Does anyone have a clever way of keep crud from getting past the plug boot?

I was thinking electrical tape around the rubber boot to close up the gap, but that seems kinda hokey to me.

Parsko,

I have used a simple method which involves a suck-a-lux (shop-vac), small diameter ridged hose (about 1.5-2ft), a few feet of duct tape, and a beer.

Wrap the duct tape around one end of the hose as to tapper it from entering the shop vac. Make a good seal for best vacuum. Then wedge it into the shop vac so that at least 16" are sticking out. Now turn vacuum on and remove debris while drinking COLD BEER! After this is completed, you may choose to drink more COLD BEER!!!

P.S. Remember the COLD BEER!!!

Regards,

Sandskipper, I can relate with you VERY well. My opinion is that everything should involve beer. With one exception, riding the trusty steed.

mmmmmmmm, beeeeer

Beer is very important while performing any work on your bike. Valve adjustment + clean and re-oil air filter + change oil = 2 beers. The same work on my GSX-R 750 is a 3 beer job.

bk,

I just those EXACT jobs the other night. And yes, I too consumed 2 beers while doing the job!!!

Just make sure you don't get confused & stick the suk-a-lux in the beer.... Very disappointing result.

Oh yeah, I blow it out with compressed air, loosen the plug a turn or two & blow it again. I realise that is not much help when out in the bush. I carry a small length of hose in the tool bag. At least you can blow out most of the crud with your breath.

well on the trail simply hook up hose to your buddys bike.
have him revvvvv and presto the blower, how ever keep
said hose away from neither region. the heat and blow
just .....well 5 cases later (by yourself) and presto the
burns heal or you have drank in excess and the pain is
gone for a while
