hi their just a quick question if big end bearing has play or is on its way out is it possible for the flywheel to rub againts stator and cause stator casing to break off were the stator bolts to it ? iv had to cases do it to me just by kicking bike up and letting it tick over {ITS A 05 450 FE} thanks bri

This is more than likely a main bearing failure, but must be pretty bad to cause that sort of damage.
I presume you have got lift on the flywheel?.

i think you might be wrong fella.
i've had a 650 engine with a twisted crank and the first sign is that the ignition flywheel spills it's guts against the stator.
this is the first time i've heard of this at UHE and now it's twice in a month.
jesus! we're getting a whole new load of problems now these bikes are getting older.....
you need to strip the engine and put a ruler across the flywheel cheeks. if the big end is at the top or bottom you've got to check at 3 o clock and 9 o clock but it will soon become obvious....
you need new mains, take a chance on the big end maybe or split the crank. i have a new pin and bearing. you should then get the pin welded in when it's all back together.
maybe i can help you against those bikes!!!! but if you're a mechanic then you'll be able to do all this.
