Best way to sell a Berg

I think the best way to sell it would be list it on Ebay. I have sold quite a bit of stuff including some higher dollar items. I have sold everything from a farm tractor to 99 cent items. If you don't have any experience selling on ebay I will be glad to help you. Or I will even be willing to list it for you. The way to sell a higher priced item is to start the bidding low and let people start a bidding war. Fewer people will start the bidding on a higher starting bid price. First off you have to know exactly what the least amount that you will take for the husaberg. So you can start the bidding low but set a reserve price and/or a "buy it now" option. It is really best if you don't even use a "buy it now" because people may see that price as out of their price range. And don't disclose you reserve price as that may keep some from bidding. You will always have some ask what you reserve is, but you should really refrain from disclosing this. Set the auction to run during 2 weekends or at the least set it to end on a Sunday night when more people will be at home and on the computer. The ending time is important. The auction should end at a time people on the east and west coast will be able to be around during the auctions final hour when you are likely to get the most bids. 10pm eastern or 9 central time is what I have found to be the best ending time. Show lots of photos, with a digital camera if you have one. Check you email often for any questions that potential buyers have and answer them promptly. If you are interested in listing this and have any question, just shoot me a PM or email me.

I have bought two motorcycles (including my Husaberg) from and sold one on CycleTraderOnline. I am not sure what they charge now but you get great coverage.

Hmmm...... Maybe if you did'nt constantly bash your Berg and it's resale value on say.... international forums like this one. You just may be able to sell it.
Anybody who did any research at all before buying there
Berg is fully aware of the price of admission for joining this group. In most cases it is a high risk high reward venture.
Just my 2 cents.

Looks as though someone is parting out an '03 on ebay as we speak. The entire rear wheel assembly is up to $300 at the moment. The total on the plastics, complete rear and front wheel and radiator is up to $558 and this stuff was just listed a little over 24 hours ago. Several of the things have no bids yet but I will keep an eye on the totals and what they sell for and keep you posted if you want. I am on ebay quite often buying and selling so I am already there, so it will just take a few minutes a day to keep track of it all.

That's pretty pricy for the rear wheel. I bought a complete set, front and rear from a guy on THIS site for $300.

Just a comment............ Bad news seems to travel fast doesn't it? Seems like allot of folks are very willing to accept bad news about Berg's at face value. But bad news about "other" bikes just doesn't seem to make the media rounds. Like the fact that Hondas' 450 needs valves and springs at 20 hours, and all the problems that "other" high perfromance four strokes have that never get reported. There is also good luck and bad.

paint it blue put some yamaha stickers and tell ppl its a really fast wr450f

cheers doug

Ebay total up to $711.50 on the parting out '03. 6 days left. Just keeping you posted t-jet.

wow that sounds **** ..!

my berg dealer was happy to give me $6000 as a trade in on a new berg

and myn is a 99 :? :? :?

I still say list it on ebay and see what happens. If your reserve price is not met, than you can get busy turning wrenches and taking pics and sell piece by piece. It will take some time, but if you really are ready to move it you don't have alot of options left. I would hate to see one parted out but I guess that's better than not getting anything for it. I would still be willing to help you if you are not that familiar with selling on ebay.

Here is the latest on the '03 being parted out.

Indeed it is **** and a very sad state of affairs when the only way to get out of a 1-2 year old bike is to part it. To say that this is just the "price of admission" is to deny the real issue here.

Products are only worth what the market says they are. The fact that used bergs are not worth much speaks volumes about the lack of commitment the factory has given its customers. Negative comments on an enthusiast site are only reflections of market perception. The bike buying public is sour on the marque because of the past and current sins of KTM/Husaberg.

Poorly designed/manufactured product, poor support for importers/distributors/dealers, poor availability of spares and service (with accompany high prices) along with a complete lack of responsibility to their customers when problems arise have created the current market perception.

Other manufacturers have avoided the bad publicity by simply taking care of their customers. Product defects are admitted, bikes are re-called and a remedy is offered gratis or at a reasonable sum.

Dancing around the truth and making excuses for KTM is nothing more than a **** Sandwich.

Apologies to any posters I may have offended; It's just that I hate the screwin' we're all gettin' !!!!!!

I agree 100%

Now, we're up to 4 cents. Anyone care to make it 6?

BTW, what is your bottom price?
I know someone who is looking for a ticket into the Wonderful World of Husaberg.

I've got $4000 in it and I have put
about 16 hours on it. $2700 as is.
I would like the cost of riding it to
remain under $100 an hour.
I will even go back and edit all my posts
to just blank pages if that helps.

Hey Ratboy,
Why dont you head over to Thumpertalk and read a few of the Japanese Forums. They are really entertaining..... you want to talk about a piece of crap and getting screwed, just buy a CRF or a YZF. The parts may be slightly more available but I'm sure their not much cheaper. If you havnt noticed, nobody is building a bulletproof racing 4 stroke. I truely believe there is no such thing as "you get what you paid for" in the racing 4 stroke game. All the manufacturers have dramatic short comings in the respect to durability and customer support and satisfaction. As for Husaberg, when was the last time somebody who was civil and had a reasonable request for a warranty issue was told to pound sand by the distributor ??
