Hi friends, I just would like you to tell me about best oil type for my model, since there is a lot of products in market. Pls, gimme a good advise regarding this question.

Mobil 5100 ? motorex ? Castrol R4?

Thanks a lot friends and regards from Madrid !!!!

From what I've been gathering from places like bobistheoilguy.com, some say the low emissions diesel oils are not holding up as well as the previous formulations in MC's, but you should always judge for yourself, UOA or otherwise. On a side note, I've been running Walmart Super-tech 15W-40 in my '96 FC400 :D When I get around to it, I'm going to send it out for a UOA and see how it's holding up...

fwiw, i recently changed from running mobil1 synthetic to shell rotella 15-40 for both my 450 and 650. ever since i have noticed the infamous clutch chatter/ squeak when i put a heavy engagement load on it at low engine speeds. this shows up on both bikes. its not all the time, but aggravating all the same.
perhaps the new formulation means its time to switch to something other than the diesel oils. at least here in the u.s.

Hi Spanishman, greetings from Javea, Silkelene Pro4 15 / 50 is a good one, plus the importer for Silklene is in Madrid, I get mine from him.

RE: Re: best oil for my FE600 e 98

i use MOTUL 300 V faktory line 15W50.
i'll be able to tell you weather it's good or not if the bike holds up to about 80/100hrs.
and then still it's not proven that this is because of my choice of oil...

Quaker State 10-40

I use Quaker State 10-40 mineralroil and it works great.
Tried the Motul 5100 synt., the engine was smoking and used 1-2 dl oil /2 h driving in a slow track.
Regards
Jampe

RE: Quaker State 10-40

have used MOTUL 300 V Factoryline 15W50 for 30,000km of rallye racing and having seen inside the engine, would never think about anything else, no other oil is like it for longivity of the motor, its the double ester that does it !!

RE: Quaker State 10-40

Talking with the kid at the local Honda/KTM dealership and he was steering me toward Castrol GPS 10w40. Any positive/ negative feedback on that here? Runs $8+ USD/litre.

RE: Quaker State 10-40

Note that DL currently recommends NOT using the recently reformulated DELO 400 oil in wet clutch engines any more.

i have used this oil for 2years on my suz DRZ 440 (athena big-bore kit) and never had to adjust anything on that bike,valves,timingchain,etc... no oil consumation at all.
ok that's part of the reliability of that type of bike, but still didn't have bad expirience with that oil.
but since the husa's are more sensitive to maintenence,i pay more attention to what kinda oil i'm putting in the husa,i'm with motul 300V faktory line.

Did he specify which part(s) of the mix were of concern?

I've also read that the low emissions formulation Shell is not working out as well as the previous. I'll be bummed when Wally World switches the Super Tech...

Hi friends !

Thank you very much for all your contributions. I'm really pleased with all of your comments.
I just get shocked when reading about diesel oil for husa engine. Does it really works?

Well, I'm going to contact to local Motul Madrid dealer to get more information about 300v factory line 15/50.
I'll keep you posted. Best regards and thank you once again for all your help and support.

Hi sparks !!
Goog to hear someone from Spain too.

When riding 2T long time ago (I'm currently 36) I had no so good experiences with Silkolene 2T oil. Due to that bad experience I still have no confidence with their products.

For sure they have one of the most quality engine oil for 4 Strokes...but believe me..there is something inside of me saying...do not do it !

BRegards my fried !!

hi, changing your oil at maximum 5 hours of operation i never bothered so much about the brand.

a 10w40 from any famous brand makes my 1994 lasts for at least 200 hours.
