Thankyou Taffy!!!!
Yes, they are racing machines, and they do fall into the wrong hands some times.
Thankyou Knopey!!!
For stating the current shiny bits marketing strategy is to lure people who would otherwise overlook the Berg into purchasing one. Are these the sort of users that Taffy refers to as the "wrong hands"?
I think so.
When KTM first introduced the RFS to the Australian market, they went to great pains to dissuade the recreational" XR" market from purchasing one, as they knew the implications of failed RFS littering the countryside because " JOHNNY XR" expected 2000 kms between oil changes.
And yet, the latest marketing strategy of the distributor is to attract new Berg buyers by a swag of " Shiny Bits?"
Is this the type of buyer they really need?
Surely a new Berg buyer armed with 20 litres of free correct grade/viscosity oil, a heap of oil filters, a spare air cleaner and oil, and some rudimentary training in servicing his bike is worth more to Husabergs reputation in the long run than a muffler and sundry add ons ?
Quote, a local farmer after purchasing a 501 to replace his XR 600:
"its even got an oil filter". I do not believe he had a spare.
Is that the sort of market Husaberg needs to attract in Australia ?.
