im booked in for a play on the 125,250 & 390 with midwest ,anyone else going?

it was a real good day.ktm & midwest wer top boys & it was good to chat to the other guys there.i had chat with some jurno from tbm he was riding a ktm 125 so i exspect that will be in nxt months tbm mag.
it was well organised, the course was better than i exspected it had couple of small jumps & logs bit of woods (i think it was part of the course there using to race today)& nice up hill straight so u could get it flat out on the back wheel.each session lasted 20mins = 3 laps
i started of on the 125,great mc & pretty lively & had a good little battle with the other bikes but it strugled to keep up with them out of the corners but would catch them up again,i was pretty knackered as had to be flat out on it but also it mite of been because it was my first run out.next bike was the 250 which i loved the power & went well on,then the 390 which had a problem,it was ok at 1/2 throttle but when opened fully it just bogged/coughed & spluttered so took it back, midwest had rockwells 390 (i spect his pratice bike)so they let me have a rip on that, the sussies wer superb you could tell it was proffesionally set up,it went well but thoutgh it lacked power the last 1/4 but can see why people like as a technical race bike,to me it didnt feel much lighter than my 450 & i prefer the 450 than the 390.the bike of the day for me was the 250 but i wished i had took u up on your addvice & booked a go on the 300,next time will do for sure.

how'd it go?

I also rode the 390 'standard bike' at the test and found it flat as a fart near the top end. It got to about half way up the rev range and then it almost stopped. I just thought that they had it in 'soft' power mode with a standard can (but it appears not from reading the post above). We were on a very power hungry track so I just went with the flow.

I then rode the 250 two stroke and loved the power on it but not the front fork set up. Compared to my 07 WR yamaha it was very hard throughout the stroke and did not inspire confidence in the turns. It was very hesitant and vague on corner entry but great over the logs and jumps. I might be very tempted with the stroker with a bit of fork set up time.

I then rode Alex Rockwells 390 also. What a bike! It could be chucked around every which way with very little effort. The motor was great off the bottom and in the mid range but it still lacked the power up top that I was expecting. I am just researching if the top end power can be unlocked before I sell my yam and maybe buy a berg plus pipe and competition map.

The day was excellent. Well organised, friendly and great value. Course was great fun too. Thanks to everyone involved.

ciggy, did u not have a go on the 450?its probably the bike for you if u want a bit more umph from the latter part of the engine.after riding mine today it seemed to have lot more top end & didnt feel that much heavier then 390.
i decked the 250 going into a corner it just slipped away but if it had a berm to ride it would of been fine, but i dont know if you noticed the bars were slightly bent (after my mate dropped it over the logs) which might of made a slight diffrence.

No, unfortuately I didn't have a go on the 450 as I swore I would never race a 450 again after an experience a few years ago. I wish that I had of now though. In fact I wish that I had tried the whole range!

I would also love to see some dyno figures for the 390 and 450 bike as well as the two strokes including the 125. Does anyone know where there is a dyno graph? I have searched and searched on the tinternet, with no results.

I have raced a Wr 250f yam for three years at clubman level and I'm looking to chop it in for something newer. But I don't know what to go for. I wish that I could ride a 450 Berg at a British enduro round, just to see how much it will beat me up!

450 is awesome. I raced the fx450 and never failed to finish podium in the Irish Enduro championship senior/expert level. I switched back to a 2T a 012 berg 250 finding my results are better but the fx was my first 4t. I just went out on bought a 09 fe450 as a winter bike for some practice now I'm finding myself stuck deciding what to race :D if you have a Wr250 you will find the 450 berg a lot better even the 570 berg is less of a pig than the Wr :p

But get a spin on the 450 you will like it not like any other 450
