BERG SAVES ME AGAIN

Well as some of you know I have a new Husky TE450, bike is great handling and narrow and I never thought I would feel more comfortable on a bike then my 02 fe501e Berg.

Well my enduro club (Calif Endure Riders Association CERA) has been getting ready to put on our annual Fools Gold Enduro (5/2/04) in Georgetown, CA. I have been spending many hours the last month and half on the weekends doing trail maintenance and riding. The Husky has been running great and starts everytime I hit the button.

Well saturday afternoon (after 2days of riding and marking the course) I take off to ride my 12 mile section and mark the entrance and exit of 2 trails we can only use during our event. I go down about 1.6 miles of trail to a fireroad to ride the 6 miles out to my section, going down the trail the Husky stars backfiring when engine braking. When I get to the road the bike dies :( hit thew button to start and it goes click and nothing, check connections, fuses wires and still only click. Try kicking and still won't start (bike has 34hrs on it and valves adjusted at 23hrs).

So my nephew rides back up to camp, rips the FOR SALE sign off of the Husaberg, loads it in his truck, drives down to me, unload, load Husky and away I go. When I get back to camp later the Husky fires right up, then I turn it off and now it wont start again. So I will be working on it again.

My wife is not happy with me

It doesn't matter what bike you buy, they all can have problems.

LONG LIVE THE BERGS.

So Craig, when you come over for a long trail ride are you going to have a sweep rider with a spare or are you going to bring the berg??
Trouble with a new bike sucks no matter what brand! Thats why you buy a new one and loose $2,000 out the door. Sorry you are having problems. Aside from this have you had any other besides the clutch master cylinder issue??

unklemoose;
sorry to hear about your problem.
a bud of mine had his bike die after he did tons of maintenance to it. he forgot to remove a rag he stuffed into the airbox while doing a filter change. wouldnt it be sweet if you were that lucky [or stupid].
thanks for letting me take the husky for a spin. i liked it but i liked my berg more. remember how i flew up that muddy/snowy hill at moonrocks? that wasnt me, it was the bike. if i had some extra cash i'd buy your bike.
anyway, let us know what is wrong with the husky.

Hi Unk,
Thanks for the story. As you know, we Berg riders could use some encouragement from time to time as we don't seem to get much from the press. (We don't deserve good press when the Berg people in charge drop the ball).

Hope you get the Husky quirk figured out easily. Let us know!

The new Husky has been running great, hopefully something simple to fix. The problem with the clutch was the "HOMER SIMPSON" (me) who worked on it.

Here in Spain the New HUsqvarnas had a lot of problems with the e-start, like the bergs, and overheating problems too....sorry unklemoose

Moral of the Story!

Well the moral of the story is don't buy a berg or a husky, buy both!

Had to borrow a 94 Husky 360 2T for a muddy trail ride on the weekend, as my Berg is almost ready. Other than losing filings from the vibration , I survived. Looking forward to being back on my berg!
