Berg maintenance Q's

As I ponder my the future as a berg owner, I am reminded of something - my days as a CanAm owner. Sigh.

I am referring to the additional frame tubes running from the swingarm pivot forward to the mid point of the backbone - these make carb servicing and jetting a nightmare. How is this readily done on the bergs?

Do you have to pull the carb and if so how is that most easily done.

The devil's in the details.....

Also, do bergs run on the larger 26mm axles from the KTM bikes now?

Cheers

twist the carb having simply undone the jubilee clip. you can get the floatbowl off from there. if you have a battery fitted be very, very, very careful about shorting out spanners etc.

if you need the carb out from that area i undo the rubber inlet spigot and pull out complete.

Can you extract it out one side (left or right) or do you remove the shock and airbox to take it out the back?

I wish I could see one of these things in person - crap!

ok let me make it simpler!

to pull out the complete carb
1) undo the back of carb to rubber boot.
2) undo both screws from the rubber spigot to the head.

now remove the carb on the right hand side of the bike.

Thanks

I just couldn't pictue if there was enough room between the frame rails and the motor to take the carb out in the conventional manner you describe.

Another Q: Given the unique one piece engine casting for the case and cylinder - what happens if you chunk a piston or score the bore!? Is the cylinder sleeve replaceable?

Cheers

Hi chilledspode,

yes sure, you can remove the cylinder sleeve.
It´s not a bad idea I think, have a look into the
parts manual. You can download it here on the site
there you´ll see a lot of engine details on "explosion" drawings.
(don´t know if this is the right english word for that)
It´s really informative.

Its still very fiddly. I hope you have got a small workshop gimp with small hands ?

I hate taking the carb off my 2002 and that doesn't have a aluminium sleeve.

U get used to these things.
