First time post to ask a question. I own a 99 FE600E , have had it for years. I would like to know if removing the resistor plug wire cap and running a strait connected cap would harm any parts of the system? It sure has more spark and starts and runs better. The original cap has about 5K ohms but you can barely see the spark although it ran before.

What type of spark plug are you using?
The new iridium NGK has a built in resistor but the original C8E type has no resistor - could it be you now have two resistors ?
I am not an ignition engineer but do try to use non resistor plugs if the original specification was no resistor..

Well, I just went around the valley and she runs fine. All you can find any more around southern Oregon is resistor plugs. I just put in an Iridium NGK and it works fine. My Dellorto is worn a bit I think and was running lean at the bottom. Went from a 40 pj to a 55 pj to get it smooth and clean puttering down the road and the plug color is fine.
So be it. The NGK has around 4+K ohms. Grumpymachinist

a resistor spark plug has an R in the name. No R = no resistor.

C8E or CR8E etc etc.

to have no resistor at all means you fuzz people's TV screen as you drive by. not good. one or the other shou;ld have the resistor - doesn't need to be both. no damage either way.

the carbs wear out and need smaller jets not bigger ones. I do a kit called 'easy start'. well worth investing in.

yes I do. you mean the blue 1989-1999? yes mate. the post will hurt at around $120 though. you can get plenty of smaller stuff round the outside and do a joint parcel with someone because there'll be space. it can't be helped, its a diagonal shape.
