A bike ive always wanted and now own
I did a deal with a chap for his 05 race bike,to turn it into a road going tard
He seemed like a nice dude and i took his bike without any paper work but said it just had a engine refresh by smr(this is not a pointing finger or nowt)
Well this week i have bee buying all the gear i need to make this a legal reg bike(a few pennies indeed)
Any how while we have been sorting electrics and things each night i have kicked it over first time everytime when we needed power to check things.
Well tonight it kickover again first time for 2 mins running,switched it off.
5 mins later got kicker to TDC and once it stopped there the kicker seemed like it moved bout half inch more?
Any way pulled the decomp in and instead of the kicker moving freely for a inch it felt notchy
Tried kicking it but there was defo a different feeling from the kicker(it even started to creek?)
So banged it in 3rd gear a tried to bump it 3 times and just a mawassive flame and a back fire(petrol in system i suppose).
But i thought it should of started.
So take off water pump cover ,zoorst etc and side casing to fing all looked well.
Tried to moved kicker with decomp lever pulled in a it hardly will move.
So got a ratchet on the lower cog and turned it and the piston moves freely and loads of decomp pressure.
So take clutch plates out and the basket mover freely too.
Aint got a compressor so wedges a driver in basket and gave the nut a whack,after a few times though i broke a lug of it(where the clutch plate spring bolts onto
So too top it off i know i need a new clutch inner basket and maybe something to do with the kicker?
Im not blaming people who have serviced it at all,not int he slightest,nor the last owner,im just fookin pissed cos i aint even rode it just 5 mins running in the garage.
So any can help with a few ideas please?
Gonna get bike to mates to whizz bolt off and see the damage,while i am there is it worth checking or changing owt else?
How much are second hand or new clutch baskets for a start please?
And cost of shaft etc etc or bearings?
