bearings on crank

there is a post somewhere I think by Boss?

can also cut almost all the way through it with a thin cutoff disc in a die grinder then hit the groove with a chisel.

I made one of those special tools, used it once. its good for removing the inner without damaging it but it doesn't work very well. if you measured the endfloat before the cases were split and the crank width at the bearing inner lips you shouldn't need to remove a new bearing inner.

some guys remove the shim from the RHS and adjust by shimming the bearing outers in the case.

heat it up to nearly orange hot and it will fall off!

if I heat it up that much isn´t it a chance that something bad happens to the rest oft the crank?

not if you aim the flame right. the crank is a big heat sink and will not go really hot but the inner race struggles to move it's heat to the crank. so the inner ring will get really hot compared to the crank.

a little discolouration won't hurt.
