How much can you raise the bars without having to put on new cables, etc. ? The clutch cable is very short, looks like you might be able to route the cable to in front of the bar, but still probably only get a 2" rise?

I found 1 1/8" rise ok on my fe570 but 2" is a big rise and may put tension on the throttle cables as well.
The best thing is to unbolt handlebars so they are free and rest them in position on a block of wood to the rise you want.
That way you can doublecheck before buying.

I've got 2" bar risers on my 07 FE550 & noticed when I had to replace the throttle cables with the spare ones I had from my 06 FE550 that they were shorter. Just cut the outside of the cable back & turned the throttle around so it sat in front of the start button. Bit of a pain in the ar$e but saved buying another throttle cable.
Loosen it off & place it in front of the start button 7 you wont get any cable jam at full lock.
