Bar clamps

I tried to adjust the position of the bar clamps today and after removing the caps I found the lower clamp secured to the triple clamp with sockets head screws.

The tricky part is that none of my allen keys fit. It seems to be sized at 7mm. WTF?

Can anyone shed light on this?

can't recall the size but here is a little tip: get a bolt with an 8mm head that you would use an 8mm spanner on, right?

then if it slips in the allen head screw you know what you've got.

regards

Taffy

Loz 16,
7mm is normally an Italian thing...So it is probably after market yokes/triple lamps. But 7mm is the favourite of Fiat and Lambretta...funnily enough neither of them make yokes for motorbikes!!!

I ask a question and all I get is more questions. What kind of forum is this? :D

So to answer you all:

Hi Taff; I'm a brit, now living on Vancouver Island, BC and I recently got an '03 FE400.

Hi LeFrog; It's an '03 FE 400.

Scouser; you're right, it is an Italian thing. The screws holding the Magura bur clamps to the yokes are 7mm hex socket screws. It just foxed me for a bit cos 7mm is not a standard size in all the hex key sets I have. I got one today and the bars are moved. 8)

Thanks

With some photos we might help, but it may be that someone has just replaced the Allen bolts.

Take a snap shot and post it here, we will take a look.
