balancer bearing failure

just trying to get the SP on the faliures people have had with these in the past?

i have noted a very tiny hole in the crank cheek of the '04 engines.

the hole is about 0.2mm and just off the left crank journal. its aimed directly at the balancer bearings ball race. so with this in mind, have there been failures of the balancer bearing since this mod started in '04? i first discovered it when i stuck an air jet in the end of the crank and felt it back on my face?????????????? so i blew down it with my mouth which tasted disgusting (know how the girlfreind feels now!) and also got it back in my face again! in the end i discovered what i'd taken to be a spec of dust!

i change these bearings for safety sake but this may not be necassary if this oil made all the difference from '04....

i was a victim of a CB bearing failure , can remember it like it was yesterday . on the exit of a turn ...on the gas , vibration , lockup , tears

so thats even WITH the oil squirt! valuable info whosa because the tendancy is to think 'oh! that'll be ok!' but as has been said - that bearing may have to do 18-20,0000 revs now and again!

i also make this observation....
THAT THE W/P SHAFT CAN FALL BACK INTO THE ENGINE. THAT IT CAN BE DONE LIKE THAT WHEN THE ENGINE IS PUT TOGETHER. THERE IS NOTHIONG STOPPING IT EXCEPT THE SHOULDER OF THE CB BEARING.

DISASTER!

when i do my engine i get a pair of bars behind the neck of the sprocket and pull the shaft 'out'. it is always in 2-3mm because the sprocket key has to be driven in and down and that means the shaft goes back into the engine... any money on this having been a problem in the past?

Taffy
