Bad hot starting

I have a husaberg FC550 SM with a keihin FCR41mm on it.
Cold it starts like a charm (2 kicks, no choke needed), but when hot i almost cant start it...

Anyone have some tips for me? I have checked my valves by the 1/6th turn method and will post my carb settings tonight. I also have a Sparks rewound stator, Taffy's kickstart mod and a IXU24 plug.

Thanks

your too rich at idle, that makes them a pig to start hot.

regards

Taffy

thanks for the tip :)
So a smaller pilot jet should do it?
Or a slower starter jet?

RE: Re: RE: Bad hot starting

My carb settings:

Keihin FCR41mm
MJ 175
starter jet (?) 42
OBDTR
Clip in the middle
Pilot jet (?) 85

Any tips for a better hot starting husaberg ? :)

RE: Re: RE: Bad hot starting

Anybody some tips to help my bike hot-start better?

Or should I just use a 165MJ? (read the doc, and it says the MJ in a FCR is helping all the way?)

Hi ElSnorro,

I think you may have got mixed up with the jets here, you will probably find that 42 is the PJ and 85 Starter jet.
You could go down to a 40 or 38 on the PJ
Check the setting of the FS under the carb, number of turns out. When I was sorting out my jetting I found the R straight of the needle was to rich, you could try a S or a T, this will aid better starting when hot.
I used mine for road use and found the DVT needle worked very good, but we have all got own preferences.

Sparks.

doesn't that carb have a red hot start button, right next to the choke, which you can pull out to assist in your hot starts?
i think vegasplayer added a remote lever for the hot start.

tuts

Will try a NCVS (honda) needle and a 72 Starter jet this weekend. Cant get my hands on a PJ 40 or 38.
Do you think a 72 starter jet will help too? Or will that be too lean?

You only need to change the starter jet if you are having problems starting from cold, the #85 will be fine.
What is your fuel screw set at, turns out?.

Ok.
Fuel screw is 2,5 turns out now.

Ok.

OK, a tad more than the norm, start at 1 1/2 out and test up to 2 turns out, you will know if you have gone to far.
