Backfiring/Stalling - '09 FE570

I have a 2009 FE570 and wondering if anyone has come across the same issue I have with the bike stalling/backfiring.
This problem only seems to occur when riding in tight sand based pine forests. In this area it is well known that bikes tend to run hotter than usual.
The problem occurs when chopping the throttle and then opening up quickly. The bike will backfire and stall or, if I am lucky, keep running depending on the speed. Not all the time but enough (about 6 times in a hour ride last week) and always in worst possible place/time.
This bike has done this since day 1. Took it into the dealer and they re-routed the engine breather hose from the airbox and ran it to exit behind the engine. Idea was that the sensors were having problems with the hot air being pushed back into the airbox.
This did not work. Have complained again and again and it seems that the importer (KTM NZ) knows of the problem and waiting on a new map to fix - still waiting and no sign of it yet.
Not seen any issue of this anywhere else but am guessing from KTM NZ comment, this is a problem they know about??

Common problem. Recommendations are raise the idle speed and perform an EFI self learn. Neither one seems to cure the problem completely.
Hopefully there will be a new map out to address the issue. It has been an issue for a year now.

the self learn process that has been explained many times as being a 10 - 15 process. This is the process for KTMs, but the Husaberg process takes much less time, less than a minute...same process, start the bike with no imputs.

cheers

It's only happened 4 or 5 times since I got the bike. Not an issue for me really.
It also happens under unusual circumstances. Like for me, it happens riding a gear too high, low rpm and then taking a big hit like a step up or running into a boulder garden and trying to whack the throttle and power out, right off the bottom while still being in the wrong gear.
As I said it doesnt happen too often. It really hasnt been a big issue, hit the button and it restarts a second later.

Ok, gotcha, good don't want that trouble if I can get one of these bikes

Guy's this may be a fix, it's not addressing that complaint but it is an update. I'm going to search the vin#s for all we have sold and contact the owners to perform the update. If you bought your bike from SOS, I will be contacting you shortly.

Through continual product monitoring and feedback, Husaberg has changed the air
filter carrier to a screen type p.n. 812.06.016.100 beginning with models produced
after July 1st 2009. Husaberg has also developed improved competition mappings
for all 2009-2010 450 & 570 motorcycles, which is designed for use with this new
screened air filter carrier.
» Husaberg is recommending that these updates be performed during the next
scheduled service interval. Please note that the updated mapping is only a
replacement for the old competition mapping (KM81XEU0927001).
» Before flashing the new mapping files, the XC_1 software has to be updated to the
latest version (v.1.11/1.22) along with the mapping update. Please reference
TB1002 & TB1003.
NOTE: This Technical Bulletin only affects certain VIN numbers! Please check the VIN by
performing a Motorcycle History search in Husaberg Dealer.net to determine if it’s affected. If
the motorcycle is affected you will see a link to the bulletin and its repair status in the history
results. Husaberg North America will not warranty units whose VIN numbers are not linked to
this bulletin as it does not apply to them. It is the responsibility of the dealer to determine if
the unit requires this update by checking the vehicle history.
Procedure for Repair:
» Please order and replace the air filter carrier with the new screened version.
» Download the new mapping from the Husabergdealer.Net Download Center, and
then flash the ECU with the correct mapping file. Afterwards, a 5 minute initialisation
idle run of the engine is necessary.
» The user manual integrated in the XC_1 Program shows all necessary and detailed
instruction on

390's are not effected, because they already have the screen. Here is a picture.

As it turns out all efi bikes that were produced before 7/1/09 are affected. They will need both the screen basket and a re-flash. Bikes produced after that date have the screen already but require the re-flash. The only exception being the FE390

now is that 7th of january or july 1st?

just for us foreigners

Cypher that would be July first 2009, but would include a bike produced on the 7th of January. I have the baskets in stock so we are ready to go when someone wants it done.

By the way Charles at HB tells me this new map will improve the flame out condition. It actually is an EU comp map.
