autodecomp. shaft - old and new

Sorry for that repetition of an old topic.

looking in the partsmanual 03,04,06 I see, that the camshaft was new in 2003 for 450/510/550.

I think I have in my 2001 501 the model 2003 camshaft (and the steel camshaft gear)

the decomp shaft was changed in 2003 and is the same until yet, even the 590.36.016.000 part.

So why can I remember to a thread, that the after 2004 autodecompression shaft fitts only in the newer camshaft?
I think I have a KTM decomp. shaft in (since 2005),was no bettering until I do the welding modification.

The original Husagerg part is lieing in front of me.

I have to decide, buying the 590.36.016.000 shaft +590.36.017.000 or
tune the Husaberg Part by welding (like jackter1)

I think welding the old is better than buying the new, or?

To get sure to have a proper part, please tell me the length of the axle and a picture was good with the shape.

I´m not in the near of my bike the whole week, so I can not check by demounting.

Diffenrence between the old spring and the 590.36.017.000?

Thanks in advance!

someone else will add to this i hope but the waters are mudied by the fact that the factory changed all the part numbers in '03 but necassarily the parts. just the number system.

Before modding my old auto de-compressor I got all grown up and sensible and bought a new one from DCR who told me it was the newer type if thats any help, fitted it and it worked just as un-effectively as my old slightly worn one, so I removed it and placed in my in my tool box to mod at a later date. Then welded and filed the old one fitted it and it auto de-compressed correctly you hear this as soon as you press the button taking a load of strain of the starter. After welding and fitting you must ensure the return spring resets the lever and when thrown to the off/closed position the cam is flush, this is easily done with wet and dry and filing once fitted

Hi jackter01,

yes, this agreed with me.

The original KTM part, which should be the answer to that problem, works just as well bad or not.

I will do the "second" welding as soon as possible.

Thanks for your answer.
