I think you would be doing well if you had 1mm. I just measured mine and looks to be .95mm until you push it firmly against the bottom of the pocket (as it would be when the roller is travelling over it). Then I got .85mm; easy to see that loose exhaust tappets would reduce that lift and create hard starting.

Yes Neil, I pushed it into the pocket, and I measured ~ 0.88 mm.
But..
I obtained this size, when a small spot welded onto the autodeco.

I think that 1mm is ideal world stuff too. From memory mine was around the 0.8mm mark last time I measured.
