Auto clutch application

I've used a Rev-Loc on my KDX with a LHRB and love the setup so much that I can't ride in the rock gardens without it. I'm currently looking at a '10 FE390 but the Rekluse site doesn't list that machine. Does anyone know if any auto clutches will work in the 390's?

Yes, I have a Rekluse in my 570. I believe it is the same for the 390. I think it is a KTM clutch that they use but they do have a specific part number for the 450/570. Maybe they just have not changed their website since the 390 came out.

It is RMS 827.

Highly recommended.

I recommend the Magura LHRB over the one Rekluse sells. It costs $100 more, but the quality is much better. I wish I had bought the Magura instead but I didn't know about it at the time.

Thanks for the reply. I posted this query to Rekluse but haven't heard back yet. I'm hoping the 390 clutch is the same as the 450/570 and the KTM's.
My brother gave me a Magura clutch master cylinder that I used for my KDX LHRB and it works quite well but does need a lot of pressure to lock up the wheel for brake slides. I used DOT3 eventhough it states mineral oil only and haven't had any problems.
Couldn't you simply plumb the original clutch master down to the rear caliper on a new 390?

I've had first hand feedback from some people who eventually had leaks and MC problems with DOT fluid in the mineral oil only clutch, and a lot of people said 'don't do it', including my dealer, so I didn't. I suppose you could do it. You did it before. *shrug*

As for the 390, I am betting it is the same clutch. It has the a different crank, rod, piston/cylinder, different ECU/EFI mappings, and *maybe* different size valves and/or cam grind. Beyond that, I am betting almost every other bit of the engine is the same.

Rekluse will probably get back to your soon.

I like my LHRB and I use it most of the time instead of the pedal. I think it gives me a bit more feel, and I don't need to go looking for the pedal in tough sections. The new Hussys have a very strong rear brake - I had to put some air in the line to make it softer.

Worst case, you can use both pedal and lever to apply more pressure, but I have never had to - although I sometimes do out of reflex/habit.

You'll love the Rekluse. You've had an auto-clutch before so you know how good they are, but everyone who has ridden my bike called it a 'tractor' (I have 12/52 gearing) and liked the clutch. I lowered the idle to just above where the bike would struggle to remain running in gear, then had the Rekluse installed and set to engage medium hard about 200 to 400 RPM above idle. Now the clutch remains engaged while idling along on the trail until I come to a complete stop. So I always have engine braking unless I stop the bike to let the engine idle down. IMO this is the best of all worlds.

The only thing I wish is that I could bump or kick start the bike, but I have had no battery or starter problems yet and I hope I never do.

Alright if you want the clutch option i guess.
A lot of people ditch the clutch though and have brake instead.

The z-Start Pro RMS827 will fit the 390 (I have it on my bike). It works perfect, and will give you a great feeling and traction. The new FE 390/450/570 EXP Clutch RMS7727A is an "anti stalling" clutch and is ment for more aggresive riding (more motocross than enduro) so my recommandation is the z-Start Pro RMS827 for overall enduro use...

Excellent guys. Those were quick responses and I still haven't heard back from Rekluse.

The RMS827 will probably be the route I'll take. I'll remove the brake pedal once the LHRB is set up properly. One less thing to bend on a stump or rock.

Nope!
It`s the same Rekluse from 89-03 and after that they are different.

Jampe

I guess that Rekluse dont make a clutch for the early years.

i had a couple of them. it was the rms125. i don't see it on their website any more, but they are out there.

I have the EXP in my FE390 and with the light wedge kit and heavier spings (option) you can get it to start feeling like a z-start or pro. Just my 2.

does the exp do the same things as the z-start and pro ie slip the clutch then your pulling a high gear at low revs, allow you to come to a stand still in gear etc or is it just an anti-stall device.

i've read the rekluse website a couple of times and it just seems that the exp is and anti stall device and i think why have that when the others apparently offer more?

answer on a postcard too.......

The EXP with the light wedge kit will slip a tad more but still not like a z-start or Pro will. It's all a trade off. If you want total stock clutch feel - EXP. If you want a traditional auto and limited clutch feel - Pro. If you're not worried about the clutch at all - z-start.

Does that fit on a postcard?

Cypher, go for the pro, not the z start. Less slip, less wear, less adjustment. Better bit of kit altogether.

jsut sold two bikes and was goin to put it all towards a van but have played withthe idea of diverting some into an auto clutch.

will just have to see what happens

think they need to put Huskys description on the Rekluse website, would make things easier. :)
