Anyone had any thoughts of a 2009 Aussie Force ride, when, where,
Wildman (Wal) mentioned last year about having it around the time of the A4DE which is at Orange NSW 16th-19th April
Thoughts anyone!!

As it happens, 17 April is my target date to be back on the bike, so I'm keen, but only as a support for the 4 day. I'd propose that the weekend after the 4 day could be suitable if Wal was coming down. I also seem to recall that Azza offered KI as a venue for 09, which could make it more doable for the WA mob. The 'Wang does offer superb riding and great value accommodation at Rob's though. I also recall that Wal was going to host it up North too...

How about some venue and date suggestions here and then we can perhaps put a poll up?

If you want to camp, then here at Numeralla is an option too which I'm happy to host. We can get access to the local MX and enduro facility and I've got 100s of kms of trail just out of may gate, in addition to what's inside my gate. 1.5 hrs south of Canberra.

FYI those not from Oz, the 4 day is our domestic version of the ISDE which usually gets some top internationals along too. 4 days of watching the best in action. They usually have some specials in the bush that spectators can readily access.

Early April we have the Kowen 2 day which will be another great event.

We should get Hamberger (Carl) to give us a grand tour of the Ottways and all those nice loamy trails the boys were talking about on the 07 ride. Then head on over for the 09 ride with Azza and the boys on KI.
Cheers

Hey guys,

If your gonna do one each year, I can arrange something for 210, but can prbably get something together for '09.

by 2010, i reckon there is a chance of a good 80 - 100km trail straight off the ferry, with some of the most awesome coast that you fellas will ever see, with some excellent camping spots along the way, (april will be wicked), BUT the trails arent like the Blues or the Ottways, its only mildly lumpy (hills) and rocky sandy through the bush and a fair few open trails.

I reckon I have an option on another 2 or 3 short day ride (2 - 4 hrs) of about 30kms in a full on inaccessible area, or break up the main trail into 2 days with a camp in between) and then theres beach and dunes to throw into the mix.

Faktor has been looking at coming down between march and june too, but as i say the trail needs about another 1000metres finished to get all the way through. (I have a 'mud-map' of the loop from google earth.

I'll keep finking in the meantime (also dont forget its an excellent tourist attraction and if families / partners wanted to come, its got the worlds best wildlife attractions (get face to face with wild sealions, roos, wallabies koalas, plenty of reptiles, theres fishing charters, wineries, distillery, excellent cafe's and galleries) blah blah blah.

be tops to see you guys over here!

I was wondering when this was going to rear its head... I'm all for going to "the wang" again as it has some of the best riding, friendly locals ( just dont go to the pub ) & a great host in Rob at Black & Gold cabins. I'd really like to take in some of the Aussie four day as I've got to travel so far to get there anyway.

Realistically, we had it at Wallerawang because it was the most central location for Vic's & Qld's. The guys from WA have to travel miles anyway so they're not be bothered where it is. If we have it there again it's less stress to organise.

Just my 2 bob's worth but I'll be there for the 4 day for sure, so hopefully the force ride is somewhere near Orange.

Whats wrong with the locals at the Wang Pub ?

Nothing wrong with the locals, just visiting contractors, last year when we held the Force ride at Wang was when a local bloke was bashed and subsequently died, That was all Wal was talking about, Normally a very good country town with 2 good pubs!!

hey guys, new to the forum but bloody keen for the force ride in 09? just spent $2500 in parts to get the 550 back on the road (main bearing hardening failed!!!) so keen to go for a bloody good ride.

if you guys like we have great single trails we ride on next to the hwy's here in SA. some are being closed down due to over zealous councils, but other wise they are awesome tracks. some could take all day if you like, you can even head into/onto the border tracks which the late Andy Calldecott used as his training tracks. more than enough room to stretch the legs of our Bergs..

Hey Toppers, you ever rode the tracks between Pineroo and Loxton or to the Vic border? they look great! ive been checking them out every other year on my way up to Mildura and back to Adelaide.

any hints on where else you can get a ride in SA? i thought adelaide was a maste of time, because as you say the councils and greenies get onto the bandwagon and close all the trails.

Wang pub was great, if anything the beers (and schnitzels) were too big and too cheap (cant believe i would utter those words) and it made moderating ones intake of the good stuff a little difficult, that and a half a bottle of bundy was probably the big downfall on the saturday morning ride at Wang!

gday Azza, i haven't done the pineroo to loxton tracks yet but a good mate of mine has. Another mate just did the tracks from loxton into vic late last year. both mates say those tracks are a ball to ride. i,ve done the lameroo earth movers ride a few times. awesome rides.
my good mate has a property up atTailem Bend, we use that as a base to ride from along to tracks along the train lines to Tintanara and to bordertown or to head to Lameroo etc. He is building his own moto x track on his property Great fun. The national park behind Tintanara is good too. I worked in border town for 8 months and would ride up along the tracks to the boder fence. great tracks to open up the berg.
Trouble with SA is you have to travel so far to get to the good spots. We used to do a big loop down south from Morphett vale to Victor harbour. Not too bad a ride. I do the state enduro series (as a hack clubman) to get to ride differnt areas
another mate has property up near Blanchtown. Just have to drive to get to were you can ride is the problem
maybe we could take you on one of these rides one day if you like. going to try and get one prganised from loxton inot Vic and back again. Maybe a 2day trip. Keen?
Toppers

Keep me in the loop hey! problem for me is much the same as you describe, getting to any other location is expensive when you have to catch a ferry just to get off the island!

what is the terrain like on these trails, predominantly the heavy orange sand id expect?

Cheers!

just keeping this high up on the list so none of the Aussie's forget about it Has any one been to moe riding before great riding accommodation??? would not mind coming this year

It seems like we have suggestions/offers of:
Kangaroo Island SA, but it'd be better in 2010 rather than 2009,
Wallerawang NSW,
SA Border Country,
Moe Vic,
Cooma/Numeralla NSW.

We also have a few date options:
Easter, 10/13 April the weekend before the 4 day,
Anzac weekend 25/26 April, the one after.
May.... Mother's Day is 9/5

We need to know what accommodation is available, and we need a commitment from someone who knows the area to lead the ride.

So, are there any dates NOT an option, ie Timmy, can you lead a ride(s) at the 'Wang over Anzac weekend as this seems like a popular choice? This Easter/Anzac fortnight is also NSW school holidays, and maybe other states too. Does Rob have space for us or is he already booked out?

Wal, if you are coming down for the 4 day, can you hang about for a week until the following weekend? If so, come to Numeralla to kill some time, get a few rides in and and do some maintenance if you want. Do we do it over Easter, immediately before the 4 day starts? Do we wait until May when things have quietened down a bit?

In the expectation I'm riding then, and the fact that my kids have left home, I have no 'NO' dates yet, but I'm holding off on committing to some stuff, so I need a date to work towards NOW.

I also have a stack of leave owing so if people want to include Numeralla on a road trip to or from somewhere to the Force ride (the Wang?) I can make that work too. Shed available for maintenance if required.

When?
Where?

Steve

wnag again.... better start counting the pennies... would ge nice to get back to that rocky ledge again and do it properly his time!

Hey Guys,
Via a discussion with brn2rde and Steve I was wondering if we could get enough interested parties together to look at putting a ride together with these guys www.scartours.com

Maybe it could be a plan, covers riding, somewhere, guided tours to stay etc...possibly a 2 or 3 day event...what do you think.

I've ridden many parts o fthe area and it's good riding

Brn2rde is in Oz for a period in August and it's be a pretty good time to get a plan going...thoughts
