At the end of the clutch push rod, is there a ball bearing?

I'm cannot for the life of me adjust my clutch so that I can engage and disengage it within the throw of the lever. When I took the pressure plate off, I noticed that there was no ball between the rod and the plate. My fj1200 has it, and I'm wondering if there's supposed to be one on the berg too? The parts fiche that I looked at does not list it.

Mine got a shim{501} i added a small washer{ could not find anywhere to buy a similar shim} to the shim to give me better adjustment!
