Aqualine / Safari tank?

East Bay CA!
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone has tried the Aqualine front safari tank on an 09-10 'berg.
I want to have about 5 gallons total fuel capacity, and with my subframe tank this would be just right. But, DAMN! that thing is expensive! I know that it's cheaper and easier than being stranded without fuel. I was just hoping someone would be able to shed some light on how well they work (or don't).
Thanks,
Blumpkin

works great, fits very well, never had any issues in 50,000km racing using these tanks over last 2 years

I have had my tank for a couple of months now...and have only fitted it to my bike two days ago. I have yet to go for a long ride - have booked a biggy with a mate next Tuesday. I hope to be on the trail by 5:30am and not home until 8:00pm. I hope to do at least 450ks for the day. That is, if it is not too hot.

Currently 42C outside!!!!

Had a couple of minor issues mounting the tank, but that was more to do with the fact I am running B&B Offroad radiator guards ( had to cut away some of the lower fins) and case saver. Here, I put a small extra piece of fuel line around the main fuel line for added protection.

Yes, the tank is expensive ( I got mine from the good guys Bairnsdale KTM for a 'good' price) and I would much prefer a one piece tank (due to the 'Berg design, this is impossible) I think, however, the solution is great.

Where I ride, this is relatively cheap insurance and should make for a more relaxed ride (not having to worry about range -you never know when the trail you are on is blocked!!) and I can explore some more fabulous countryside!!!!

Thanks for the input. I went ahead and ordered a safari tank from "the BOSS". I was able to get some first hand insight from Rick, and he put my mind at ease. I was a bit hesitant to buy one, mostly because of the price, but in the end it was the only real option I had. I'll let you all know how it works for me. Thanks again to all who responded, and BIG thanks to offroadboss.com He's a real asset to our little community.

We had Annie Seels safari bike in at work after last years safari, i thought the main tank looked fine, did not get to ride the bike but sitting on it seemed fine, i only run a standard tank as i get 140km to a tank, i have had a look through Aquelines workshop a very well setup and sorted outfit.

Well I went for that ride yesterday - first time with the tank on. Ended up doing only 281ks for the day..well short of my overly optimistic 450ks (you gotta have goals) but the ride was AWESOME!! The 'adventure' parts were a lots slower and tricky -without being overly hard - than I first planned.

I hardly know the tank is on the bike without looking down. The tank maybe expensive, but for me well worth it. I could just make the refuel point on the standard tank.....but if I had to reroute due to obstacles blocking the trail I would have been stuffed. This tank gives you peace of mind.

Does anyone know if they make one for the '04 FE550?
I want to "convert" my bike (which is standing idly in the garage), into a week-end adventure bike, recently sold my 950se, and need a replacement, but with range.

Hi. Just stumbled across your post regarding the tank. Is it available? Also if not any ideas of one? Regards. Michael
