approx FE570 miles before valves, top end rebuild etc?

According to the spec in the workshop manual they don't. And the outlet lobes are the same on all 3. Atleast when it comes to cam height, I assume the timings are the same.

Thought I would report on my 2012 570. It is on 650 hours and 41000 ks. Had a counter shaft, Prox piston, timing chain bla bla bla at 550. Apart from the counter shaft the bottom end is standard, valves still in spec. Had an issue when I put the parts in at 550, strainer blocked seized rockers slight damage to piston so new bits piston and it runs well. Probably my fault but never really got to the bottom of it.
Just noticed it is starting to burn a little bit of oil now. Done 450 ks in the weekend and 100 hours since the new piston. It used 200 mills of oil. I noticed the original berg rings look more substantial with the oil controll ring being one piece and bigger, the compression ring looks slightly bigger (from top to bottom) than the Prox rings.
Any one had a Prox piston and rings fitted to a berg burn oil?
Maybe I am expecting to much out of non genuine parts.

Cheers

No, figured the oil still came out clean main bearings looked OK and no play in the big end.
Considering doing it now with main bearings etc...
Or put the old OEM piston back in with a set of rings. Sounds crazy but at 550 hours It looked great and was worn .03 mm bore clearance .08 mm. Might get another 200 hours out of it and stop the oil burning ??? I have not heard of a 570 rod snapping in half, only running the big end. This would be a little inconvenient but not terminal. I would never consider extending the engine maintenance out this long if the bike is being flogged. But it is not.

Cheers

At 230hours my bike bottom (crankplay/bearings) all where like new but I heard about another 570 supermoto with less hours with bearing faillure so replaced them together with a new Rod to be save.
Only thing I had beside normal wear where some gears squared of the edges where the gears grab eachother.
550 without rebuild is amazing the stock piston is realy great I now have a cp piston in it but when it starts to wear I will go back to stock.

I had. 08 clearance after 230 hours is still in spec but minimum tolerance According the manual.
Piston still looked new Just slightly worn rings

Just put my old 570 piston back in, the piston has 550 hours on it. new rings, gaskets, clips, old piston pin, and a valve adjustment done. (This is the first valve adjustment ever done)
Total hours of the bike are 650. 41000 ks. 100 hours on the Prox piston and it was burning quite a lot of oil.
There is a significant difference between the OEM piston and rings and the Prox one. Would post some pictures but it won't work??
Done 100 ks yesterday it does not appear to smoke at all particularly on startup also when cold the OEM piston is noticeably quieter, they measured the same size. Sounds crisper and hooks power wheelies in 3rd. Happy days !!!
Hopefully I can get a few hundred more hours out of it before the bottom end lets go.
I don't flog it, Ok every now and then!!! Man I really like this bike.

The 570 is A few hours off 700 hours and running great. Just servicing it and found a few things. Noticed the valves are moving slightly so I guess that means they are slowly coming to the end. (It's not Fair!! LOL). It started to be a little hard to start first thing. Found the intank filter dam near blocked. Only me to blame for that one. streached the last oil change out to 1600 ks on the trip, it burned no oil. I really could not be bothered changing it half way through the trip. Oil was done but came out clean, strainer and filter were normal. Will probably keep riding it until it stops or developes a death rattle or the oil starts coming out contaminated. Still goes good. Cheers

Beautiful. Thanks for the info. - Do you have a miles/km figure for those 500 hours perhaps? Interesting to put it into context.

Hello all - and sorry if I'm not posting on the right thread. I didn't want to open a new one for a simple question.

Here goes: are there known issues on the 570 engine regarding the cam chain and/or cam tensioner? If there are, any ideas after how many km/mi they develop?

I've bought a '11 FS570 with ~3000km and ~70hrs on the clock. It now has 3600km and about 80hrs and I think I'm starting to hear chain rattles from the engine. The bike hasn't been ridden very hard in its life up to this point, so I think it's a bit early for a cam chain work. What do you think?

Thanks a lot - and sorry again if I posted on the wrong thread.

Too early. You might consider it after 200h if you want to be safe. Ofcourse this comes with a disclaimer to follow the manual as noone knows when **** happens ;) But I wouldn't worry yet at such low hours. And the engines do rattle.

Dirt Tricks make a good quality cam chain tensioner. The factory unit is known to be of lessor quality. Get yourself one of those, slap it in and sleep easy.

Clean air filters and reg oil changes and they last for a very long time. I sold mine with 5k on it and it ran perfect.

Hi

2012 fe 570, 736 hours and from memory 46000 Ks now. Just got back from 1700 k trip did not bother changing the oil. Used virtually no oil. Drained it and apart from normal contamination looked good. Valve clearances did not need adjusting. Will keep riding it for now.

So you put the oil back in?

Just done another 1000 kms over the past couple of days. 776 hours and 49000 kms now. Still running well, oil comes out relatively clean. Starting to collect parts for a rebuild. Will use genuine parts.

A couple of pictures of the past couple of days
