What engine oil do you prefer for FE550S force? Note that in Cyprus especially in summer, the tempeture is 40 degrees....which one you would suggest? I use the Motorex power cross 4T. Any better suggestion?

For me, I always rely on "Secret Pleasures" massage oil....

Oh...you mean for the bike......I think that if you do a search on this site you will find that Lineweaver has recommended Delo 400 roughly 11,000 times.

Many folks here recommend a petroleum based diesel 15W/40 oil, either Chevron Delo 400 or Shell Rotella T. I put on 14,000 miles on my '96 FE600 using Delo oil. My current bike, a RevLoc equipped '04 KTM 525(540) EXC with 7,000 miles seems to prefer the Rotella T.

i use fully synthetic silkolene , i just had a rebuild and was impressed at the condition of the motor when it was pulled apart .

i am convinced of one thing , use quality oil .
and change it often .

Humor is relative.

Some find the likes of Taffy and myself to be quite funny, others believe us to be insane.

Dale, I personally find just about everything funny, in particular you and Taffy! Hell sometimes I just think funny schit..... Dark, Warped, life is too short not to find something to laugh about, particularly one's self. Thanks for the information you, Taffy and the others here provide I continue on my learning adventure with these bikes.

Well, not to worry Dale, looks aren't everything

For the record.....I'm Vancouver, BC born as well.....and I know I'm funny !

I run 10-50 synthetic Motrex......maybe I'll try the Delo as I change the oil every 2 hours and the Motrex is $$$$$

Hi Brian,
I don't know about that. With regard to "Husaberg Hype" perceived reality seems to be reality. Facts don't really count as it is all about the Shmoooooze.

The problem is that i leave in Cyprus and your can find only Motul, Motorex, Shel, Mobil, Repsol, Texaco etc. The oils you mentioned are difficult to find

I think that you are in good shape with the Motorex. People can argue all day about which oil is the best but in the end what is important is to use a good quality motorcycle oil and change it often.

I am currently using an Amsoil product....not because it is a favorite but simply because it was the best quality oil that was available at the local motorcycle shop that I deal with. I have since ordered a case of Motorex. Can't get Dales Delo 400 where I live without ordering it from the USA and getting killed on duties and tax.

I think ( boy that can be dangerous  ) that the oil you would use should be be what you can get that does the job. A good oil witch you can find along your way. Might not be the cheapest but what you can get.
Find any yellow jackets?

Coffin,
If you would like to use a Delo 400 spec oil it is available locally to you .Check out Irving IDO 15/40

Very interesting nsman. Somehow it seems scary to think of dumping Irving oil products in my Huusyerdaddy! I used to cringe when I would see people using their 2 stroke mix. Probably nothing wrong with it but my perception was always that it was lower quality...mass produced "stuff".

Are you using it in your Bergs?

I use Motul, but FWIW...Yamaha Canada did an independent study on the quality oils readily available to the canadian consumer and Advant 5/40 synthetic was near the top of the list.
As far as the IDO 15/40 goes I am sure it is a quality product. As you well know the Irving group are unique in that they also own/run a huge transportation company as well as a significant forestry operation as well as the oil refinery operations. It is unlikely that they would be using anything but the best available and you know they would not be buying anything from anyone else....expect techology.
Sometimes we dont give the companies in our own backyard the respect that they deserve.

Aww...sheesh Bruce. The last thing I wanted to do was to start a pro/anti irving discussion with you  .

They have done an incredible amount for this sleepy part of the world. I started my career there, my sister is at the top of their legal department and my brother is the personal trainer to Arthur Sr. I just never really considered putting their stuff in my motorcycles....mostly because I have traditionally been faithful to Silkolene. It always gave me good results and I never messed around with anything else because I always had a case or 2 on hand.

I was sponsored by Valvoline when I ice raced in Ontario and even then I still used Silk even though my bike was covered with their decals and I always had Valvoline goodies that I gave away and/or donated for prizes at the races. I'm sure their oil is good too, I just didn't want to experiment with a 250 2 stroke that was ported and tuned to the point of being a ticking time bomb on the best of days. It was wicked fast though if you could match the jetting with the drastic temperature swings that you can get on a frozen lake and keep it from melting down :D

Irving,s ability to produce quality products is a given. It is also a given that the market size they have to deal with lends itself to commercial production, although I would not be the least surprised that they blend specialty products for others.
I often feel that the biggest mistake(business wise) I ever made was not going to them out of school and offering to work for free.I know that I would have gained much before they fired me. :D
