I have the chance to by a Husaberg -01 550 with supermotard wheels , it`s there any problems with the 550 engine?
The owner don`t know anything about the bike as he recently bought it and he can`t start the bike, i started it after 10 kicks, the electric starter don`t work and the engine sound good expect a strange sound from the clutch side, the clutch plates are worn out too.
Havent found out if it is FE or FC or SM, did Husaberg made the 550 as a FE at all?

The electrical system...the stator from SEM seems to be an issue (that can be sorted however, a new one is a fair bit of money though, but they're supposedly alot better than the stock bits). It can however be checked with a multimeter, the resistance values of the two coils can be found here (168 on one and 3k ohm on the other IIRC).

They seem odd regarding the kickstarter, push it down until you feel resistance, let it go all the way back and give it a proper shove - that's the way to do it, just kicking away won't get you anywhere.

AFAIK that has something to do with the electrical system, and needing 400 rpm to create a proper spark (this is straight out of my mind, garbled stuff I may, or may not have read somewhere on the internet ;) ).

It has to do with getting the engine up on the commpression stroke, so that the cylinder is ready to fire. Using this method with proper jetting I can start my 501 with one kick, cold or hot.

01 FC550 did not have an electric start. If it has one it's probably not an FC550. They didnt make an FE550 until 04.

You can check the "owners doc" for information on the 01 bikes. They had issues with rocker arms, counterbalancer bearings, main bearings and cam gears. all of those parts can be upgraded. At that age some or all of them may have been done already.
