Hi i'm new here, i'm from Poland sorry for my bad English. I've always been a big fan of husabergs and recently got one. It's a 1998 Fc400. It's not perfect condition but its not so bad (i earn some extra money fixing friends bikes). After i bought it, i went for a 1 trip it was fine, starting 1st or second kick.
Then i decided to adjust the valves and change the oli, and some usal stuff to get it right. It was fine, still starting easily.

And recently on the last trip the problem began, it was tough to start.
Came back home decided to clean the carb and check all adjustment. Ive checked the ignition it turned out that one of the bolts holding the stator was broken so i fixed it cleaned everything (stator wasn't damaged hardly they are some little damages but nothing serious that could affect anything). It started only if i pushed on a gear and it was working bad. Iv checked ignition timing it was fine, there is a spark.

RED - BLACK resistance is fine like i found around 1750 Ohm
GREEN- BLACK resistance is around 90 and i found that it should be 23 Ohm

But like i said there is a spark and i think its strong. I was kicking it many times on manual carb setting and on one that was when i bought, and the spark plug seemed to be pretty dry i think that it should be wet from fuel after something like that, so tried to put some fuel into the cylinder in the act of desperation of course didnt helped.
Please help me i dont now what to do, run out of ideas

if the flywheel covered the stator then they are the correct readings but if the stator was in the small ignition cover (and you have a small 15mm black plastic bung in the cover) then it is the wrong stator.

Thanks for the reply. Flywheel covers the stator so from what you said it should be fine. Still no idea what to do... Maybe there are some typical for husaberg carb problems that i dont now about ?

It could be a broken exhaust valve spring.

As far as the carb goes the needle and seat are wear items and need to be replaced periodically.

find the genuine TDC and mark the flywheel. use the top bolt hole for the stator as your TDC 'static point'.

you need to get 6d advance at tickover.

this will be your problem.

as for your carb
do you have the round slide?
both types of dell orto age badly.

you need a new atomiser and needle
fuel valve (as eric says)
do you have the CD1 jet under the PJ?
usually the float height is set wrong and it is important!
also, when you get a new FV, you must use a 1mm fibre washer and not the 0.5mm beige one that came with a few. this will phuq up your carb!!!!!

I do a carb spruce up kit. we fit a smaller choke jet and a smaller PJ as well. we also put two new O rings in the kit.

Thanks, i will check all of that and see if it helps.

Ok I've solved the problem. The measure issue was auto deco spring i fixed that and i changed position of needle, also checked the ignition settings it was fine. Now its starts from first kick every time cold or warm. Thanks for your help and advice
