Another new fan of Evans coolant

So I did some jetting, got the bike (a 2002 FC550) working quite nicely with some help from Taffy and his jet kits. But the bike was running hot and puking coolant on tight slow trails, it was fine if you kept up a good pace. I've got a Trailtech vapor computer mounted, with a temp readout of the upper rad hose temperatures. Before the Evans, I would very quickly get to 90 celsius and the peak temp captured by the vapor is 104 celsius. As soon as coolant started puking it would create a runaway situation because there was now air pockets in the engine and less coolant in the system. And Yes, I bled the system, and I know that is critical for effective cooling, but it still wasn't enough. I tried engine ice coolant, but it showed no noticeable improvement.

So I flushed with Evans prep fluid, then filled with NPG+ and bled the system. I just came home from two days on a trip as the only "bike" with a group of ATVs (another story). The ATVs are slow, especially in the rocky sections. Now, I'm a bit "OCD", and giving me any sort of gauges to monitor my machinery is almost a bad thing because I tend to watch the gauges more than where I'm going :D but.. I have to say how impressed I am with the Evans... it simply worked.. that's all I need to say! The bike didn't run any hotter than it did before, I never saw 100 celsius on this trip, and the coolant stayed in for two full day trips. A noticeable improvement! Without a cooling fan, this was definitely money well spent.

Hey Duane... I hope this has solved your issues, but keep in mind that our ambient temps are dropping too...

When are we getting out again?

Hi Sean,

Yup, the cooler temps are helping too... but my last trip out was only two weeks ago in similar temps (the Arthurette run) and by the end of the day I had to call it quits a bit early because I had lost some coolant. I kept a close eye on my overflow tube all weekend and I didn't lose a drop of the Evans coolant, the level in the radiator is still bang on too... just covering the tops of the tubes.

I've got a bit of maintenance work to do (minor stuff) but I'd love to get out again soon. Another couple of rides is gonna finish off that new knobby I installed this year

Anyone know if you can buy this product in Australia? My 570 is happier with its new fan kit bolted on, but i was more thinking of it for my CBR1000RR which runs pretty hot on our daily commute together. On 100 deg f + days i would be happier if it had some extra help inside the cooling system. It only takes being stopped at one set of lights and the temp sky rockets.

I have used the Redline Water Wetter,I picked it up from Coverntries in Australia.
it appears to do the job ok for me, works most effectively with just distilled water and can lower temperature up to 20 celcius apparently.
I do have an older bike with the single radiator and it has never had over heating issues.
I have heard of race crews using this product at times also.

Maybe something to have a look at,others may have tried this also?
