Finally got some clear weather and some time to go for a squirt. Was out at a local spot fairly blasting around with my brother (roostya) when we came across a pair of CRF-X riders at pace. The first guy came out of a blind corner at pace as well with his buddy in hot pursuit, I had nowhere to go and ended up plowing into the first bike, lattening his header pipe and bending his rdator and shroud. My triple clamp exploded and I went for a bit on an unpowered flight. Dave the other guy was okay but I took out the bars on the way thru, and landed heavily need to go and get my wrist x rayed but had to share this first.

Flat pipe.

New adjustable triple clamp 8O

The hole in the bottom clamp is elongated and the top bolt is trashed too

We were very lucky to escape with minor injuries, as I sit here typing I'm feeling a bit worse for wear actually, the bike is toast. Triple clamp is completly cactus, I think one fork leg is bent, the headlight mask and dash is toast, I have a crushed footpeg and kinked front wheel. FWIW I always wear armour, the 661 pressure suit, so at least I dont have gravel rash

Damn bad luck!! I hate to say it but....it could have been worse. It's good both parties were able to walk away.
That seems to happen out here on occasion. The usual results are broken wrists and femurs. It will almost always get you a helicopter ride :(

Thats for sure berger ! It could have been a hell of a lot worse, I had luck on my side for sure.

Sh!te mate your lucky, judging by the damage to your triples you hit fairly hard and to bend a fork leg as well just erks you off even more.

It is a lot easier and cheaper to repair a broken bike then a broken body though.

I hate hearing stories like this as I am a little complacent in the tight corners, going in to hard when caution should be taken, I've been told its the boy racer coming out in the man.
Touch wood I haven't had it happen yet (and don't want it to. ever)

not sure if you have the same TCs as me but folk have been going to 22mm off set and reporting a better ride so why not upgrade? or you might have them standard - i don't know?

anyway, the bike took the brunt so i guess you can be thankful it wasn't a jeep or something....

regards

I was about to pull 5th cog when I spotted old mate. Waiting to put the suss leg in a lathe and measure the run out.

Upgrade time for sure ! I have seen some nice pieces advertised in the UK at a nice price, a genuine replacement here starts at AUD$ 840 without the rest of the hardware. I got t-boned on my last bike by a a station wagon ( you call them an estate ? ) not quite a jeep but again I was wearing armour and was lucky enough to walk away.

Bummer :(

Glad to hear you've survived to tell the story, a major impact to do that damage 8O

The old saying a cat has 9 lives, you have 7 left.
You seem to have had some bad luck, its a wonder your wife hasn't sold the bikes from under you. I take it your riding mates are quite happy for you to lead when out riding.
Their all probly laying down a few bets on how long your next off will be. Hopefully that will be Never, but your nearly a sure bet the way your going.
Take it steady mate.

I would disagree, it is a wonder my wife is still supports my riding and my riding "mates" want to see me back out on the trail.... Be cool EASYrider. We have our own pace up here in North Queensland, I invite you to sample it before casting aspersions upon myself and associated "mates"

Sorry mate no offence intended there, was just muckin round.

I would love to come up to nq for a ride.

Sorry mate I get a bit carried away and I have witnessed some horrific accidents ( the type that require lengthy hospital stays) Its exactly like you said, the boy racer comes out and then caution is thrown to the wind. You are right about one thing though we all wonder who will be next. Come up to NQ for sure mate, I can hook you up no worries

Would like to give a big thank you to those who helped me get my bike back together  Going back out to the same spot today but perhaps a sweep run might be in order first
