Hi guys..i have a 2006 fs650e berg.

bought a brend new aluminium tank suitable for 06+ models. unfortunately it doesn't fit 8O 8O

yes..the tank touches the (i don't know the word...) metal hose on the top of the cilinderhead..on this hose there is a plastic tube for the oil exhaust i think..however the tank cut this tube because it's too much close to the hose..i have to find a way do hang the fueltank 1inch upper..some one had this problem?

it is very, very, very easy to stop this.

lay the tank onm several layers of cloth on a benchtop. take a 2.5cm/1" bar that is about 12"/30cm long and with a very carefully angled tap: knock a dink into the tank at the correst point/contact angle. you'll note a wear mark to aid you hit the right place.

it really is as we say in the UK: "a piece of piss"!

hhaha i'd rather bring it to the smith...a friend of mine had the same problem..with the smith gained some millimiters and than placed a piece of rubber around it to absorb vibrations...

i'm assuming your vent was rubbed on the back one? remove the std vent assy, use 19 mm hose to route from the front spigot across to the right hand side and down behind the rad to the front engine mounts where you can cut it off. This will vent the engine perfectly. Remove the rear spigot and install a drain plug that holds the strainer, you have to have a couple mm of the shoulder machined off. There, you have a factory vent system that won't touch the tank.

I had the same problem with my 650. The problem is because the tank is designed for the 450 which has a lower cylinder that clears the rear vent hose. Someone at omeromoto should have taken the thinking just one little step further I think....

The double vents are unnecessary and I have welded the rear one shut. The rear vent is an invention of the Austrian engineers after lots of RFS engines blew seals due to high "crank house" (whats the English word??) pressure. This is a problem the 'Bergs has never had so it was a stupid "fix".
An easier fix for you is to heat the alu pipe sticking out of the valve cover and the area around it (to destroy the loctite that holds it). Then just unscrew it from the cover using a suitable set of pliers* (pliers is right? tongs maybe?). Replace the alu pipe with a oil plug (they have the same threads). Finished :)

Sorry for my poor English when it comes to this detailed stuff

We call this kind a "polygrip" - what's it called in english??

well i called husaberg italy and they told me the same thing...remove the vent and replace with the oil plug.. honestly i didn't want to remove that vent..are you sure it is safe for the bike? and what about the other vent (the front one)?

the husaberg mech told me they remove the vent because sometimes oil vapour can reach the filter (through the tube connected with the chassis) and be sucked into the cilinder..

hem i'am trying to understand what you wrote but it's a bit harder for me and my poor english..

if you are suggesting to replace the vent with a "bended" vent to have the tank touching just against the metal vent, without any rubber between them (which would cut soon) it's a nice idea..but where to get that bended vent?

have you goto a picture of that?

thanks to everyone for his help

I asked one of the R&D / race guys here in Örebro and he said they did not want the extra vent to start with but the Austrian engineers forced the implementation of it. They remove the rear one from all race bikes so I'm pretty sure the bike won't take any harm from it.
The front one is often routed to a separate catch can to avoid oil coming to the air intake. I have kept the stock rubber boot and has never had any problems with oil in the air intake.

Below you can see an image of Girolami I found at husaberg.it. The extra catch can is the silver bottle in front of and to the right of the cylinder. They are actually made by a friend of mine here in Örebro.

BTW there is an Omero AL tank for sale on the US eBay.
There goes my strategy of stealth.

Ha! I had the same thought. I asked the guy what he wanted to sell it out right and he told me $275. Pretty good deal but I'm just going to get the new 7.5 ltr plastic tank.

than they leave the front vent normally plugged and remove the rear vent with the oil plug??

when the tube plugged with the rear vent has been cut on my husaberg a lot of oil leaked...what could happen if i remove this vent? the oil would remain into the cilinder head?

you need to make a proper job of blocking off the rear breather. it should unscrew.

the front breather should then be re-routed as a breather pipe down and over the engine to the rear chain OR as you have seen - down to a catch can for SM. look through the doc and i only have put up a fraction of the systems available for scavenging the air from the engine.

do a check on what lineawever recommends which is a part from a chevrolet i believe! he has left the part # etc for us.

finally, don't forget that you also need to block the breather hole into the underside of the frame!

my opinion?
i truly and honestly believe that you need two breathers and that the 'factory men' are wrong! my experience of my 600 v-twin ducati with just one ring broken: it blew all the gaskets out of every joint and that was with a far larger hole than the single hole that husaberg give older bikes. i don't know what a heommerage looks like but if it's anything like my ducati it must be a terrible sight indeed!

so i would still say, wake up and dink the tank!!!!!!!!!!!
