about three years ago i had this as a customer/punter. i got me an "all balls - lower shock bearing kit" and when i went to fit it i found that the two caps that press in at the end are for a 12mm bolt. so infact the kit is ideal as an UPPER SHOCK BEARING KIT".
top bolt is 12mm. bottom bolt 10mm.
the bolt through the swingarm and lower shock is identical except that the bolt is 10mm and of course so are the caps.
so i called my dealer who is as rude as hell and this time he was no different. so i called apico UK and the bloke there was excellent. clearly though, they just can't check it because they don't know who to trust and they aren't mechanics and they don't have a bike blah! blah! blah!
so i called the manufacturers in the states. the bloke was great, he listened, i explained, he understood. he commented that all balls prided itself on getting the info right and that the details the had was supplied by KTM.
i also mentioned that the kit was missing the one item you desperately need: a new circlip!
so what i'd like folk here to do is to click the link, and providing YOU know as well = please tell all balls. http://www.goallballs.com/contactus.asp
the bloke there said he'd get back to me to say it was confirmed as wrong and i also asked for another identical bearing (bar the caps) that has 10mm ID caps and would actually do the job of a LOWER SHOCK BEARING KIT. so why not as for that as well.
we need a few people who have had this experience and been sent the wrong part to do this. the AB shock "lower" bearing part# is 29-5056. they don't officially ake an upper but they may do if we get the bottom sorted!
