Akropovic...full or slip on?

We have a customer with a FE650E that is wondering if he should go with the full system or just the slip on. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Jim

Without a doubt, if he can afford it , its gotta be the full system.
I have ridden an 04 650 with just a can followed by the same bike will full system,
Can only= not very much of an improvement although sounds like you're going quicker, revs slightly quicker
Full system = very noticable increase in power right through but mainly at the higher end of the rev range.
No dyno results I'm afraid, just using the ''seat of the pants'' mode.
The Akro can make a 650 quite a snappy bugger, so be prepared for that. I preferred the FP power (more power but more linear with it) but its all down to personal preference

What does he want to achieve from it?

Simon

I am not sure. He came back from his first ride with friends saying that the bike has stupid power already. He still wants the pipe though. My kind of customer and spokesman.

Go with the full system :!:
No question about that. The power sleeps in the headers. The great sound is just a bonus. I have it myself on my FS -05 and it was money (lots of it) well spent.

But one must not forget the sheer **** that comes with the titanium headers. Not sure if the "****-expression" works in english but I hope you get what I mean 8)

If that's the case, sell him the full system

Getting just the silencer is a bit of a waste of time as the guys have said above - he'll achieve an increase in power comparable to the oem mx pipe plus an hp or 2 somewhere. That's about it, other than a lot of noise.

With the full system, he'll be looking a several more horsepower.

There are better systems out there but none with a better name

Cheers,
Simon

sounds interresting for 650! - also saw some bits on the Husaberg site for 650 and just a can for others. However, what about FE550? Anybody knows if full system is available for this?

I GOT A AKRAPOVIC END CAN ON MY 03 400fe , I AM NOT SURE IF
I HAVE MORE POWER THAT I WOULD NOTICE FROM STANDARD , BECAUSE I SPEND SO MUCH TIME FALLING OFF !! BUT IT LOOKS SO EXTREMELY SEXUAL THAT MY KTM BUDDIES DROOL ALL OVER IT !! SORRY FOR THAT , I NEED HELP !

Akroprovic do one for the 550 as do FP...it could actually be the same system, but I'm not sure

I asked but official replies I get states only 650 - anybody tried this for 550 (will it fit?) :?:

A buddy of mine mounted an FP, full titanium, that came of a 550 on his 650 and it did make him sweat a bit to get it to fit cause the 550 cylinder is a bit lower. After racing it for a while he did notice that it had cracked probably due to tensions in the titanium. Welded it and sold it...

Summary: It will fit. But not that great. And you will risk to break it. A stainless muffler (or is it aluminium?), like on the Akra could work a bit better. But I'm no metallurgy professor so don't take my word for it.
