Could any body let me know if the Akrapovic exhaust system for the 04 FS 650e can be fitted to the 03' model, and which parts distributor would be best to contact for said exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it will fit, and it is a pain in the arse to fit on both the 03 and 04.

Power wise, I can tell you that you are better off with an FP system.

Cheers,
Simon

Good for you

I personally have my very "own" exhaust system. It's both hand crafted and totally bespoke............

first of all i rate the akrapovic con very highly the systems are used on some of the worlds best supermoto riders ie van den bosch boris chambon e.t.c and yes it will fit 02 models onwards as i am thinking about taking the plunge and buying one for my 04 fs650 your bes bet is dave clarke racing
if youre in the uk oh and by the way they add 5hp to a already powerful husaberg

It doesn't add 5hp to the Husaberg. It adds 5hp on the RPM where it adds the most. Top power gain is 2hp.

Just joining the Supermoto scene and hope to do some Scottish events. Looking to upgrade my exhaust too but not really sure what to look for. What is an FP system? I have been told Doma is good and for almost half the price of the Akro system. Anyone help? Very happy with my 04 650 berg tho!!

A mate ran a dorma system on his 03 race bike and it actually made less usable power than a standard.
I use an FP titanium pipe on my 04 650 (also had it on my 02)and there is definately a noticable increase, although I haven't done the dyno thing.
One major problem when using the FP pipe is the close proximatey to the left hand fuel pipe/tap.
I covered my pipe in heat reflective tape but it still melted through within 3 hours use.
I have now totally rerouted the fuel pipes and made a heat shield which zip ties to the frame...dead easy, 1 pound fix although on a £500 plus system you shouldn't have to alter anything.
Fp also make alloy and stainless systems giving the same gains for less dosh......KB RACING have a few lying around gathering dust(his number is in the back of UK supermoto magazine)speak to Kenny or Chaddy and also Paddock Hill Racing are FP dealers

As for the Akro....a very very trick bit of kit, with carbon heat guards etc but I have ridden DCR's own 650 with an Akro fitted and it doesn't make any more power than my own but if anything the power it does make is right at the top end, with a sudden rush which can be a handful for an inexperienced rider or riding in the wet... the FP has instant grunt with a smoother hit from the bottom.
Daves bike would accelerate then want to smack me in the face towards the point of changing gear, whereas mine wants to smack me in the face straight away..but I know I can stop it

i dyno a FP and Doma on my 650 2004+modified cylinderhead.

result with FP 65SAe HP with a little rich end, when good dyno i think to get a 66-68SAE HP on backwheel.

I ride now with Doma ,a lot of more gain on the bottom and tp 61,8SAE HP well suited.

Indeed the FP is a lot stronger on top but a lot lesser on the bottom power, and recording to my style of riding ,I love to have fast power on the bottom rpm.
I you want I can send you a few dyno charts, with the 2 different exh systems.
for supermoto I use Doma, for supermono I would use FP.

Rosco mate, just noticed your comments about just joining the supermoto scene...... my advice is before you spend a whole load of dosh on a sytem run with your standard for a few meetings.
Your bike has the pumper carb which is one of the best improvements to be made on bergs, it also has the better ignition than previous years. These 2 items alone result in a big improvement getting drive out of slower slick corners.
Ive seen a few of the scottish tracks and they aint really that big meaning a pipe would make little difference..if anything spend the pipe money on getting your suspension set up properly it will have a better effect pound for pound over a pipe.
If you are like me and want a pipe purely for the noise factor then go ahead and buy one, but just get something like a rhino end can.
Think ahead too...this coming season is promising to be the worst so far with regards to the noise police..NORA have a 96dcb level and others are lower. Akropovic are now doing inserts to quiten their cans down. A lot of track days are now clamping down on it too.
Superbmotard Superbmotard are a scottish concern that run trackdays. These days are great with loads of track time and great people. A lot of racers do these so book yourself into one and get talking to a racer and even ask him to show you round the track...... most guys will be willing to help...its a very freindly sport...till the flag drops

don't any of you race the 450?????? is it uncompetitive? i don't think i've heard anyone here talking of the 450 here at UHE.

regards

Taffy

Makke ! hienoja kuvia !

Terveiset Italiasta jossa mulla FS 650 2002.

Keep in touch !

I still have the original pipe but the inworks do not sound to be there anymore.

I will give a go to open it and see what it has eaten, and maybe later see if I have money to buy something more professional.

^eh?

Taffy..quite a few do race the 450...but I gotta say they are thin on the ground compared to yzf's and crf's.... I don't think it's anything to do with them being uncompetitive its just that they are something differing from the norm.
Most supermoto racers come from either road race or mx backgrounds, where the big 4 are the ones to have..honda, suzuki, yamaha and kawasaki. I think its just down to familiarity. The open class is a different matter, none of the big 4 make a competitive open bike so thats where Husaberg ,ktm and husky pick up the sales. and WE all know that Husaberg make the quickest most suited out of the crate race bike.
My 02 was my first Berg, but I was very nervous about shelling out big money for it..turned out to be the best thing I ever did.
Husaberg have a lot of making up to do, due to years gone by churning out unreliable bikes and mud sticks...thankfully they are going the right way... If I could afford, I'd buy a 450 tomorrow and race both classes but my missus would have my nuts in a jar :sad5:

Whos-a-berg,
I use the SIL-Exhaust with my 2002 FS650. I'm quite satisfied.
It's easy to fit and gives you good value for the money.
Unfortunately I didn't have any dyno results so far but
it feels the original SIL-system is designed for top end power.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna take it. I better not get too far ahead of myself, i might turn out to br really crap! I'm in the process of joining ESKC (Crail) and applying for my race license. I can hardly wait with the anticipation. I'm going to Crail on the first practice day (5th/6th March) and my plan was too try and follow the quick riders round. I'm still a novice so far (not able to back it in yet and still crap myself when back wheel takes traction and do a wheelie!) but more time i spend on track the better i will become.

Thanks for the help Gix 8)

Hey guys be glad to see you at Crail hoping to down this week end but the weathers looking to cold. Are you both running Bergs ? Have a guy coming to look at mine this week end and he will probably be running at Crail as well if he buys it. Will be racing there myself along with some of the Irish and hopefully British (NORA / etc) this year. Come along and have a craic black VOR number 34.

Cheers.............
