I recently bought an 07 Fe 650e which is minus the rad guards.. Do I buy trick after market one's or stick with the factory plastic vane's. I need to buy some quick before a foreign body hitch's a ride and drinks the blue beast dry.
My mate is working over in east LA and I could buy em in the US and he brings em back.. :bounce3:
Q? any good dealers recommended over that way.. I'll get him to go get em.. I found Brian Smith ?? Good ol English name.. Lol.

So Berger buddies, please advise..

My bike's the same as yours.

I put the aftermarket aluminum rad guards, with solid metal support posts on mine.

I had to adjust my steering stops out because the forks hit the rad guards - DO NOT DO THIS! Grind the guards out to clear the forks. You'll know why the first time you have to turn the bike around on a tight trail, or turn to miss a tree in tight single track. Don't compromise your turning radius.

I took a hit to the side, and since I had solid metal supports, this bent the tab on the frame and busted loose the nut welded to it. Had I had the factory flexible, this woudln't have happened, but I may have lost my radiator with the same hit.

Once I discovered the turning radius problem, I went back to factory plastic / flexible. Since then, I've taken a hit that bent the radiator in a little on one side - the aluminum guards would have prevented this.

I still plan to grind the aluminum rad guards and put them back on (forgot all about that task), stronger is better I think. If you know in advance how you're going to crash, I can advise you for sure which way to go! :D

Agreed, aluminium aftermarket guards for sure, so much stronger that the crappy plastic ones, also gives you a better looking bike.

I hear your good at crashing over in Hull :D

I placed the order for std one's yesterday 8O but I'll get some made in stainless..me think's
Crashing.. hee.. never mind rad guards.. I could do with a bum rest.. stop me sliding down the seat when looking at the sky  A mature owner @ 46 !!!!!
