hi;
i checked the sag as per the manual and i'm way out of spec. it's 50mm when it should be 5-20mm.
what is the procedure to adjust this pre-load?
thanks

no one has ever adjusted the front preload? or even read about it?
what gives?

do you have the proper spring rate? if you do, i wouldnt worry about the sag in the front. you can get the same effect by raising and lowering the fork in the triple clamp. if you have the adjustable preload caps, you can just twist those, but there is only a couple mm worth of adjustment. the only other way to adjust is with some spacers, you probably have a few in there already, just get some more.

Loosen the top triple clamp pinch bolts. Then loosen the cap of the forks. Now slide the fork tubes down. Remove the cap and pull the spring down and loosen the 17 mm nut that is below the plastic spacers. The spacers are your preload adjustment. Remove spacers to reduce preload and increase front sag. Add spacers to increase preload and reduce front sag. You can cut additional spacers from the same size pvc pipe and insert between the o.e.m. spacers. 8)
