AC to DC conversion: what regulator/rectifier?

Say I'd like to make an AC to DC conversion on a 2001 (SEM stator, soon to be return from its Spanish vacation  ), which rectifier/regulator should I use?

Sparks told me the one used by the SEM / LC4 uses the proper rectifier, but I wonder if I could use something else.

When I asked him for more information, well he disappeared. Must be the Spanish sun...

I have a feeling many could work, including the Trailtech model, but I'd like some more information...

Hi LeFrog,

Who's a funny boy then, yes the trailtech one will do.
The two yellows from the stator cut off the terminals and put both wires into one connector.
This now will feed straight into the regulator rectifier (up rated one).
The wire that came off the regulator for the lights you now need to take a wire from the battery to this, now your lighting system is running DC, but with lights off you are getting full power from the alternator to the battery, and remove the regulator.

Regards

Sparks.

I see... Looks like I need to sort it all out nicely anyway.

Thanks a lot for the heads up!

Can't wait to get the stator back!

Be sure to fuse the new wire from the battery to the light switch, as close to the battery as possible. I used a "blade" type fuse link so the spare solenoid fuse would work in a pinch.

Thanks, Piggd, all my stuff has its own fuse blade: the GPS, the fans, the solenoid, the lighting kit.

It's 101 automotive electrical :)

Well, at least, for electricity, there is only one system of measurement.

Ok, this is more of a mess than I thought, like most dual sported enduros, I guess. It works, but it's just waiting to crash and burn.

I am looking for the wiring diagram for the handle bar switch from UFO / E-Line dual sport kit.

For some reason, the UFO line of accessories does not have its own Web site and E-Line does not even list them in their inventory.
