had a bike in today made that left cover noise like so many - what a row!
bike was a 2005 Husaberg that requires the two half moon keys in the gearbox shaft and with these fitted there was a lot of space, you could grab the baskey and make a big old clonking noise pulling it up 'n down.
so I made the very first washer that sits on the gearbox bearing, extra thick at about 1.8mm and made sure I had to tap the two keys but the drum actually fely tight (well drum (music) should!) to turn, so I ground another 0.1mm off the washer and when the keys were a just loose enough to fit and I put it all back together.
no noise!
the owner had tried spiritual healers, witch doctors, alchemists, voodoo doctors and witchcraft - the lot.
so, not to take any thunder away from orangie. he's right, it is the looseness of those half-moon clips. it also brought the basket teeth up level with the crank gear and they were well down before I started which is highly unusual for the Husaberg because they are always flat.
so there you go boys...
