I am about to buy my first berg after having quite a few road and dirt bikes.... I am having trouble getting feedback from anyone on the FS 570 here in Aus.. I understand most convert the FE to SM.I have posted in the general section to see if anyone knows what is a good price for a new FS 570 in Australia but I would be keen to hear from anyone how owns one even if overseas.I'm shopping tomorrow and would be great full if anyone has any advice. Cheers.

i just got my fs570 a few days ago.. my dealer doesn't have a setting tool to adjust the efi, it feels lean as hell out of the box and my 06 ktm 560 would run circles around it the way it runs right now. the front brake feels weak also, i see the guys racing have junked to original frt brakes and installed bremebo's which my ktm came with oem. not having a kick starter kind of sucks also. it does handle well with the laid down cylinder though, you can flick it side to side like as if it is a much smaller bike, seat height is also higher than my ktm was. i hope it will run a lot better after using the setting tool which it looks like i might have to buy cuz my dealer here in colombia doesn't seem to feel the need to service customers after the sale. its 600 bucks for the setting tool to connect the bike to your la top to adjust the fuel curve. i did just order a tm 660 smx the factory stopped making them in 09 but i called the factory in italy and they said you want one we will build you one...how cool is that?...carb no injection same weight as my berg, but has about 20 more hp. im not liking the efi, i have efi on my new rc8 i has all kinds of fueling issues and there again my dealer has been pretty useless on helping me get it sorted out, there is a lot to be said for a carb, they always work well lol

Thanks ratman.... Yeah you would think the bike should honk! Right out of the box! I hear that often they are not tuned to there capacity when new...I don't know about overseas but here in Australia...often the government regulations and emission testing is an issue.I spoke to one dealer about the new te 300 and they replace the jets before customer delivery to get the 2T running the way it should.again standard settings are for emmission compliance.let me know how u go with the efi hopefully it makes a difference- should do! Iam of to dealer this morning to do a deal on the Fs 570 - can't wait! It's funny the am out of stories I hear about crap service from dealers.it seems to be an issue wherever the berg dealers are limited.... They don't seem to feel the need to provide good service as we are a captive audience with nowhere else to go.I have only been online and phone so far.I'm of to the dealer today... I hope it's a good experience- after the deal is done that is.

Hey boys, I got one a while back. they are a bit nuts for the road so I turned mine into a race bike. If you feel they lack poke you need to change the gearing, the stock 38t rear is stupid, a 45 is a good compromise or a 48 on the rear makes it mono in the first 4 gears just by cracking it on.

go and get the suspension re-valved, the rear shock is too slow and harsh, springs are good for race sag for me @ 70kg.

there is a good DNA air filter available to get rid of the foam one, makes a little difference, I too had a prob with mapping and 2 dealers did different things and it goes well now.

don't worry about the lack of kick start, I leave mine for a month at a time and it always starts with no charging or anything, just disconnect the white plug under the seat if leaving for a while (also a good security cut off)

have fun boys and get it to the track, they are most fun there.

Ive actually found the suspension to suit me quite well, @ 88kg

The bike feels a bit crappy until its run in, add a slip on + DNA filter, that helps it take in nice deep breathes.. I dont actually mind the stock gearing too. With the police here so strict on motorcycle wheelies, (front wheel an inch off the ground = a fine...) it doesnt really make sense to change it too much. Plus I ride on the freeway from time to time, and the gearing feels great on that.

Are you buyin from KTM Brisbane Lip??

Hey weirus- thanks for your post, yeah I ordered it today. I'm pumped! Did you buy from them?

sure did!
Just bought a ktm 350 off em too hehe..

Ive only had 1 problem with the 570 so far. The moment I rolled out onto the street and stopped at the intersection, I knew it too. The front magura rotor was completely and totally warped. Half the disc wouldnt even make contact with the pads. Was really scary. I took it back, and they swapped it over for a new rotor, and all was good. However I have since changed the rotor again to the BRAKING rotor from the ktm hardparts, which is similar to the 2011 FS rotor, and it actually works a fair bit better than the stock one.

some pics; everyone likes pics.. right? haha :)

WOW, what a toy box !!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're right everybody loves a photo

I can see why! Hey did your FS come with the hand guards that are fitted in the photo? Also how do you find the stock gearing? Do you have map switch fitted? Photos are great! Quite the armory you have there!

The handguards arent stock; but I got them to include em in the deal, along with the mapswitch and frame guards.
All the other bits I bought from ktm-parts.com (soooo much cheaper from the US...)
I commute to work on it, and actually use the the 'soft' setting for a majority of the time. It really seems to just chug along in any gear thru traffic. Occasionally I will change it to aggressive, and wheelie most of the way home.. just for a change..
To be honest, the gearing really hasnt been a problem for me.. I can get the front to loft up quite high in 4th gear.. Sits fairly comfortably on the highway, with a fair bit of room to move. However I can totally understand changing the gearing if you wanted to go racing.

Ok gotya... No not planning to race, just a weekend street weapon and occasional commuter.I would have thought stock gearing would be ok.I still want to be able to go for a decent ride on open roads.Yeah I got them to fit the map switch also, and funny enough I only just ordered some other bits and pieces from the USA- particulary with the Aussie dollar at the moment.Just looking forward to picking it up either this Saturday or next Monday-running it in and then putting some ks on it!
