Hi, I'm trying to find out what happened with the riders that where caught riding the Sarn Hellen .
I know the TRF where fighting the case, as i did fill in the form about other riders that have been using that trail in the past.
I would like to ride the trail over Christmas, But do not want to get pulled by the old bill.
Many Thanks
Mark.

Read something about the evidence being lost or something.
This means that it is still unclear.

If the men had been found guilty then vehicle rights would have been lost

If the men were found not guilty then vehicle rights would have been proved.

The lost of evidence means that it is still ambiguous like the Gap Road. No body really knows.

You only live once

The Gap is open twice a year (1st to the 31st of March and again 1st September to the 15th October)
I tend to ride the Gap a few times while its open, But its not a patch on the Sarn Helen in my eyes.
I'm not a member of the TRF, Plumbbob. I belong to the (West Glos and Dean Forest motor cycle club). it starts to get expensive joining loads of clubs

members have been flashed a mail today and asked to report on three route closures. go to the main web site and see if you are a regular user of the routes in danger. support the TRF!!!!!!

did anyone see countryfile on beeb1 last night? article by john craven about green lane use/access. it's mid way through the programme at about the 25th minute if you put 'bbc countryfile' in a search.

regards

Taffy

Taffy, I watched (with horror!) the countryfile piece - if I were a rambler/horse rider and didnt mind bikes green laning then I would after watching that. It was a proper hammering for green laning in general and this has probably rasied (for the worse) the profile of it even more now.

I thought the TRF rep was going to choke on his tongue when John Craven asked him why he thought we 'had a right to RACE' around the countryside.....the whole piece was very carefully worded to bring out the worst in what we do and how it ruins other countryside folks serenity and enjoyment.

Thanks to the good old BBC for un-biased reporting eh!

well I wish we had room for a proper debate. when something is reduced to a few minutes it becomes almost a by-the-word debate. i think people will misunderstand the 4 x 4s on what i presume was 'toms farm'? the viewer will think that this was on a byway.

also it wasn't made clear by JC that byways are legal highways. it was like watching something out of the 70s all over again.

there is a BBC web site forum that we stock car fanatics used about three months ago for promoting stock cars. might have a look at that later on.

Taffy

Mark, as Taffy said you should support the TRF if you trail ride, its not a club its a Fellowship that actively fights lane closures and will also help you in court if you're prosecuted for riding on a lane with debatable Rights of Way or on legal RoW's as has happened in the past.

£40 pound well spent if you want any lanes left in a few years.

Ah Countryfile, more than slightly biased report as usual. Strange how they never show how much damage horses and walkers can do to muddy paths but just go for the easy target.

I thought the TRF guy was very good, especially putting JC in his place about the racing on green lanes.

And to think i used to like Newsround as a kid!

for those interested go to this link and then click on the black back advert 2/3rds of the way down and its 17.45 minutes in or so and lasts for 11 minutes which is quite good:

http://www.countryfile.com/

they tried to do a balanced argument but used people legally wrecking a field for what purpose? to support users or what? where do they fit in? if you take them away you are left with just the TRF guy. the most damning statement is clearly the women who lives on a bridleway, she nails us I'm afraid and purely from a humanitarian point of view they should have stopped and helped the dismounted rider and so forth.

trouble is, if you're riding illegally, you aren't going to stop.

and take it from me Julie Bradbury is a real beauty so take yer eyes off her for start!

regards

Taffy
