I changed my oil yesterday, but when i checked my oil magnet it was about this full of scraped metal..

I dont know how long this oil has been in the engine. (bougt the bike couple of monts ago, i did about 100km's since i bouht it)

Is it too much (is there something wrong (cam chain?))

or is it ok.. There were no real hard metal parts is was just a mouse of oil and so..

No it is absolutely not like that.
Those are really big pieces of metal on the magnet, mine was just very little 'powder' (when i rubbed it on my skin i did not feel i was metal)

What color was the oil when it came out? Do you think it possible that it had been a really long time since oil change? What did the oil filter pick up screen look like? How about the oil filter? If it is paper you can cut it apart and check it out too.

How much oil shavings in the oil?

If the cam chain tensioner is all used up, the shavings should be aluminum as the chain will be contacting the top of the rocker box on the front left corner, and thus are not magnetic and would not be on the magnet.

If it looks like the picture in the link it is possible that you have a problem. If you can get us a picture of it.

Based on this statement, it's probably nothing to worry about.

Here's what I would do. Take a long thin magnet, like a pen, and stick it in the drain hole and sweep it around the bottom to help clean out any other metal particles. Continue with oil change, run the motor for a few minutes to get it warmed up and then dump it again, so as to flush the motor. Put in fresh oil and go for a short ride and then dump the oil again and see what the magent looks like. If something is going south you will hear it and see alot more debris on the magnet.

It kind of sounds to me like the oil had not beenchanged in a while. Some fuzz is okay and normal.

Elsnorro,
Do a flush as dale says.
I hope it is just done too long since oil change...Enduros should go 100 hrs between servicing, but in reality it is good to do the oil a little more often than that. Keep a close eye on oil for next change and if you still not happy..take some piccies and post on site...someone will give you accurate analysis. it does seem just like normal wear and tear to me though.

I already did what you advise me yesterday :) (had spoken to my dealer about the oil change)
I dumped the oil which was in my engine. cleaned the magnet+screen.
Then I put 1 litre of cheap 15w-50 oil in my engine, did a tour of about 10 km's, dumped that oil after that ride, cleaned magnet+screen again (no metal scraping on the magnet this time) and replaced my oil filter.
Put 1 litre of fresh Motul 15w-50 300V double ester factory oil in (the best oil i can get?)

Did a tour of about 10km's after the flush and i notice my engine oil was not black as it used to be but i was more brown now. Gues that's just a good sign of a clean engine?

thanks for the tips!

time to inspect the roller rockers .

Are these parts made of aluminum as well? If they were out of whack, how could it cause that much steel shaving?

Glad to hear it!

It might take another change or two to get the rest of the crud out of there from the over extended last change. A bunch of stuff usually ends up stuck to the inside of the clutch cover where it it gets flung from the clutch. Some stuff also lays up in the head in the trough under the cam lobes, not to mention the crud in the clutch plates. Eventually the detergent in the oil will pull most of that stuff out.

In the future a ride of 10K's after a change will show no color change to the oil. I change my oil after every ride. And a ride being 125 k's off road and the oil comes out a little darker at first but is amber by the end. Be sure and change your oil warm, preferably right when you come back from a ride as all the particles will be suspended in the oil.

Also be sure to keep an eye on the valve lash for a while until you get a good feel for how long your interval should be there. It will vary by a few hours depending on how hard you rev the motor.

Best of luck!

Just to be shure i have flushed my engine once again yesterday.
Almost no color change and no more scrapings.
So I gues the problem is solved :) Just have to fix my sweating head now..

all the best for the new year mr le frog .. sir

what i see hanging off that magnet is exactly what i kept getting on my magnet , i inspected
the rollers and found them to be worn . i replaced the whole rocker assy just to be safe .

the result was a shrapnel free magnet .

how has the kickstart been lately?

if there is one area that chews metal up it's that phuqing kickstart!
