A little more water pump seal information
My 2010 570 started to loose a little coolant about 50cc after about 5months and 3700miles, just been adding coolant after every ride, I kept telling my self I didn’t have time to fix it, so today I installed the seals . Takes about an hour. Should have done it months ago!! There has been some very helpful information on this topic about seal instillation, you shoul read before replacing them. Husaberg must of had the new guy install these seals in the case mine were installed wrong.
I did remove the clutch side case cover, had to see the workmanship.
Husaberg parts, under the cover look great very well made.
The water pump shaft was perfect no damage, on the Yamahas and Hondas I’ve had, when the pump seal leaks the shaft is scored and needs replaced.
The pump impeller has two pumping blades the inner blades look like a little compressor wheel in a turbo charge, cool stuff
Now, why did it leak??
Between the two seals there was sand. I rode a lot of sand washes all winter in Idaho and Nevada.
The sand entered through the weep hole and accelerated the seal lip wear, sand and seals don’t get along ask your fork seals, this is just my thoughts (It’s dangerous for me to think to much).
Fix
Lock tite and lightly tap a small tube into the weep hole put a vent hose on the tube run it down the engine, it will still weep coolant if there is a problem and this will keep the dirt and sand from entering the seal area
Have a great ride
