A Favor For a Friend

Last Summer a good Friend and riding buddy was killed in an auto accident.
Now his widow wants to sell his bike, and wants some help setting a fair price. The bike is a 2003 Yamaha YZF 450. It has a Recluse auto clutch, steering dampener, IMS tank, Trail Tech kick stand. and a full lighting kit.
The bike is in mint condition. Any ideas on a fair asking price?

Thanks
Dave

Usually when I'm looking at used machines I will simply swing by a dealer and ask them to give me an estimate. I have never been told no.

a simple formula I have used for many years for pricing good clean used machines is simply this.deduct 20% from retail for the first year and 10% for each additional year up to year 5.Ex yzf450 $7000.new x.8=5600.x.9=5040x.9=4536x.9=$4082. ....2006-2003=4 model years.Hope this helps

I've been helping a friend look for a used bike, and I've run across one or two of these recently. My gut says a high of $4500 and a low of $3800, depending on local market, how fast she needs to sell, luck, etc. I'm not an expert on Yamahas, or much of anything really :D , so take my observations with the appropriate grains of salt.
