Hello all,
I'm fairly new to this great site and have been meandering around the forums for a few months without being too active. I'll explain my berger backround a little. I bought an '04 650 a few months back and have been slowly building it up to road registerable condition.
A month or so ago i kicked it over to find petrol leaking out of the header and on to the exhaust ( not a great situation considering those pipes glow red hot at night). The problem turned out to be a worn needle and seat, which caused massive over fueling ( although there was no backfiring). I've since replaced the needle and all of the carby gaskets and had it running again. After a minute or so of run time it started to blow quite alot of smoke so i killed the engine straight away. Checking the oil window, I noticed it was way over full. I dropped the oil, which I'd only replaced 20 engine minutes before, to find that the sump was full of petrol. It actually dropped over two litres of fluid in total!!!
My next step is to fill it up again then change the oil and filter straight away to flush the sump. I'd like to know if this is the best thing to do and what other problems i may find. I'm guessing that oil pump damage is definetaly not out of the question. It seems have very good compression and started very easily right before all this happened.
Any help and or advice would be much appreciated. This seems to be a great site with a huge wealth of knowledge it'd be great to tap into. Thanks for your time.
