99 Husaberg 501/600 Supermoto

Hey guys,

I just picked up this bike recently it is a 99 Husaberg 501 But it has a 600 cyl on it. The bike dosnt currently run. I can get it to hicup but not actually fire. The E start, just clicks like you hit the button and its almost like a dead battery but the battery is fully charged. Has spark and everything.

The guy i got it from didnt really want to mess with it. No time no money kinda thing. But from what i have read the 501 is a great bike to put some money into. So anything i should check on or upgrade would be cool. Any Advice on the bike is good.

the 501 and the 600 have the same bore - just different strokes so if someone skimmed the barrel then it's the same as it should have.

there is just so much it could be. all small stuff but they add up. firstly, the carb parts wear badly - i do a spruce up kit. the cam chain wears out so please remove the tensioner and see if you have any adjustment left.

next, learn about setting the tappets and the 1/6th of a turn method.

I would treat the bike to a good quality iridium plug.

the stator timing mark wants to be 1mm to the left of centre as you look through the sight window. call me or write if I can help.
