i have intermitant spark and mostly no spark, i would like this to be a easy starting machine. is there a part that normally goes bad, is there a better igntion out there.

Yes, the ignition stator usually fails first, but you might just have a bad high tension lead going to the spark plug. Download the hard start guide from the downloads section, this will guide you in the right direction
Sorry, there aren't any replacement ignitions you could economically fit to your Berg.
