98 FE501 Grinding noise coming from clutch

Hey guys, of the three major problems I have with my 98 FE501, the clutch is probably the least critical at the moment.

The issue is whenever i'm slipping the clutch there is a horrible moaning/grinding noise, sounds like a sand creature from tatooine (star wars). It's totally rideable it just takes some finesse. It is however a total pain in the arse when offroad. Any experience with this noise? It basically feels like it's 'grabby'.

I have not pulled the clutch out, i'm a noob but i don't mind doing all my own work, this 'berg is really breaking me in, so to speak.

Yes this seem's to happen under tough conditions. Alot of upgrades through the years
have been made to the clutch on ktm's & berg's,the sound you speek of seem's
only to have been sorted out on 09's & newer berg's at least from my own exp.
I was only finding that the first steel plate under the pressure cap had a funny
chatter look to it & maybe a little black dirty oil to it. so try flipping the first plate
over & should go away for some time, seemed to work for several of us. don't
give up on here you will get her right!
