I can't find the air bleed screw on the head of my 98 fe400e. Is there one and if so where is the darn thing? The manual says nothing about it.

Thanks,

Roger

there is a worm screw between the two headers. it needs to be WD40'd and undone with a great deal of care. WD for a coupla days and also try to have no headers on.

you'll only get one go at it...

Taffy

I just went out and checked my 97 600 and can't find the screw in question. I also checked the 1998 worshop manual and can't find anything. I have not checked the parts manual but will get around to it.

If Taffy says its there it probably is somewhere.

Can anyone else shed some light on this.

it may not be on the older models. i do (did) have a grub screw right between the two headers on my 02. i dont recall seeing one on the 98 though.

My 91 didnt' have one either. Seem to recall that only the new heads ('01-) have the bleed screw installed on them. My '03 does. There are techniques posted here that explain how to bleed the coolant in the older bikes (I never did with my 350, just let the thing run for a bit with the cap off), never had an issue, and my radiator had 10% of itself removed.

My 2000 Fe400e has the screw in question. Taffy is right, it is right between the header pipes on the front of the engine block and he is also correct that it is a pain to get out.
