Hi, gang....
Anybody recall if the internal baffle in the rear of the OEM '98 fc501 muffler ( the one shaped like a tin banana!) is attached to the perf. core, or does it just become attached due to typical exhaust heat? I checked down through the Exhaust forum, but found no real applicable answer. Pain in the butt if it is attached!!

Hi Gary,

Not sure if this will help. But, I recall trying to re-baffle mine, and I couldn't get the thing apart. I pulled all the screws from the can, but it wouldn't separate. Now, I don't recall trying wicked hodd, but I do know that I was not able to get it apart. That might imply that it is held in tougher than the fit you suggest. Did you get the guts out of yours?

Hi, Parsko...
Yep all apart. Input and outlet caps out to reseal, and had to pull the core/baffle assembly out the rear of the can because the baffle wouldn't pass the welds at the bend. Was going to use a wrap-type repack, bit now will probably put core/baffle back in and reseal outlet cap, then stuff a ktoom/type cartridge in the front.

Gary,

I'd appreciate if you could snap some pictures, so I have something to reference when I get around to doing the same thing myself. Is that possible?
