Been looking through the site and can't find torque spec for triple clamp to fork tube. I'm sure it can't be much, but would appreciate Husaberg recomendation if anyone has a source. Can't find it in repair manual or fork repair manual. Please express it 'Foot-pounds". Bike is 97' FE600E.
Thanks in advance,

I attended a KTM factory seminar a while back and asked the technician giving the class about this very topic. It was fresh on my mind, as I had just busted my top triple clamp trying to perform this very task. I don't have the exact number, but I have been very successful using the KTM spec value for the same size fork (50mm?) and following the tech's advice: lube the screws first, clean the threads of the clamp, then perform the bolt torque to spec in one shot. DO NOT PERFORM STAGED TORQUES! That is how you break things, I know. And broken triple clamps are not cheap, let me tell you.

Good luck. If I get a chance, I'll try to look up the spec value that I use on my '98 that has 50mm forks.

Hey Steve,
At 2:30 in the morning, are you sure of that figure? What is your reference?

Its just gone midday here and I've just had a sandwich and conducting my midday net surf.

My torque wrench is currently set at 16 nm for my 98 with 50 mm Extremes and it is apparently quite suitable figure for almost all USD forks as well. Source - Fran Pons of BikeTek who does suspension for a living. He just told me his rider won the Aust 600 supersport championship round at Eastern Creek yesterday. He has also performed wonders with my suspension and many others over the years, including Stephan Merriman, Mat Mladin, Gary McCoy, Anthony Gobert etc.

16 nm will be OK.

PS overtightening USD lower clamps can cause stiction problems with the fork, as can forks out of alignment. Alignment can be out due to triple clamps twisted or an axle not centred properly.

Thankyou for the reply Steve. When your reply enters the website it posts a time of 2:30 AM in the morning, that's why I ask. The forks on my bike are conventional not USD but I 'm going to assume the torque specs are the same and convert 16nm to FT-lbs.

Thanks again.
